**When I sent y'all this message, I managed to somehow repaste the the introduction in the middle of the page. Don't ask me how I accomplished that, but I apologize!**

Hi y'all,

For most of us, reading a 100 books in any time span is a challenge. With kids, work, school, and just life in general, it's hard to find time to read period. So when I took on this challenge last year (technically still this year, but you get my drift), I joined Romance Readers Reading Challenges to give myself motivation. As of now, I've read approximately 170 books (and that's not including books under the length of 200 pages). When you compare that to the 20 something I read the year before, that's a phenomenal improvement.

With that in mind, Lisa and I have decided that we're going to start a monthly challenge to help everyone achieve their goals. I've stolen this idea from the gals over at Romance Readers Reading Challenges (please forgive me ladies), but instead of focusing on broadening your horizons as their monthly reading challenges do, we've decided ours will focus on decreasing your to-read list, while helping you reach your goal of reading a 100 books with as little stress as possible. So here it goes.

Guidelines (I always hated rules, so we will not be using that word here):

Each month our challenge will have a total of eight books, with one bonus. For those of you who are mathematically challenged, to reach your goal of a 100 books all you'll have to do is complete this challenge every month, and read a bonus book four times. And that's it, you're done.

For extra motivation we will have a Winners and Losers thread, where we will announce who completed their reads, and who didn't. If you decide not to enter the challenge that month or ever, you'll still be counted as either a loser or a winner depending on whether or not you've completed your 8 books.

Before I go, I'd like to take the time to welcome you all to the group and apologize for all the grammatical errors I've made in the this message and the ones I will no doubt make in the future. Lisa and I, wish you all a Happy Holiday Season and look forward to working with you next year.

From Your Mods,

Lisa & Angel

Ayu Yudha (ayu_yudha) hi.. i hv a question, that 8 books we should read, do you have any specific criteria or not? for example, for January challenge, we should read romantic-fiction... or we can read whatever we want to read? sorry for asking.. :)

Karis Jacobstein (yalitwit) Would you mind posting the January challenge? I want to make sure I get in line at the library for my books... Thanks!!

Don't worry, all questions are wanted and welcome here. Yes, any 8 books count! As far as we're concerned long as you read 8 books, you're on track so you've completed the challenge. Even if they don't fit the criteria.

But if you're wanting to join in on the challenge, there will be certain criteria, but it will not limit you to genres or anything else like that. We want you're challenge books to be something you enjoy! Our requirements will be something like "judge a book by its cover" or "read the 29 book on your to-read list."

If you have any more questions to drop them on me, I love answering them. :) Thanks for stopping by!

Hi Karis! Glad you've decided to join the challenge. Since Lisa and I decided only yesterday to do the challenge, we're still working on it. But it will be posted tomorrow.

lol...we're all a bunch of junkies, but the way I figure it, their are worse habits to have. The worst my addiction with get me is a few paper cuts, with a slight chance of antisocial disorder.

Don't forget Angel it also leaves us poor, I spend far too much on books and I now need another book case .

Yay, if everyone invites all their friends we will have some great chats going on

I think anything over 200 pages, what do you guys think?

message 16: by Ayu (new)

Ayu Yudha (ayu_yudha) if we read book under 200 pages, can i still count it as a bonus book over the challenge books?

My question also. If we read 8 books with 200 pages minimum would reading 1600 pages a month qualify? Meaning if you read 2 novellas that have 150 pages each does that count as one book?
