I will buy no new books except those that are part of a series I am already reading, or a spin-off of a series I'm already reading.
Exceptions - During the month of April, my birthday month, I can buy up to 10 new books.
AND - I'll spend at least 1 hour per month organizing my Goodreads shelves.

NYR Challenge: Read LK's Backlist and no book buying except for the month of March/series I'm following/book club needs
I'm also going to create a separate thread for my little LK journey next year.

3. Read at least one book from "the list" each month.
4. Write reviews for any books 3 stars and under. ."
Oooh, I like those... I think I'll add "the List" as well. I need to put that in a separate thread, too.

Read 6 Books in Spanish (0/6)
Read 4 Classics (0/4)
Read 1 Book of Dominican History (0/1)
"Reduce my TBR so I can get my Nook" Challenge
Reduce my Paperback TBR by 15 books by March 1st.

I resolve to read, rate, and REVIEW three books in my TBR mountain before allowing myself to read any one book that was not already on my TBR list in 2010
So three from my TBR, one new one, three more from TBR, one new one, etc.

Read 6 Books in Spanish
Read 4 Classics
Read 1 Book of Dominican History"
I was thinking of doing a "read some classics" but I don't know if I can do it.... I've got the whole year though...

Were you able to track down her out of print books?

I'm talking about the Lisa's Ladies' Favorites List that we made for the Pot Luck Challenge.

My new year's resolution is to put a big dent in books I currently own. 70 Paperbacks, 87 ebooks with a total of 157. I know I won't realistically read all of them in a year but I'd like to get through at least half if not more. I'll tally both lists together.
I also cannot buy any new books that aren't eagerly anticipated new releases or the last book or two to finish a series. For my birthday in April I can buy up to 10 non-new releases/ finish a series books.

Why don't you challenge yourself to reading only one? I like classics but sparingly that's why I read only a few a year.

Yes, I have everything! 37 books total.

Yeah, I am nervous! I would love to get rid of paperbacks taking up room. I went spend crazy the last few days on ebooks before this challenge :)

Oh, with fictionwise's 60% off sale I want to go crazy, too, but I've already bought everything! LOL

LOL. You have to wait and let authors write some more.

They need to write faster!!!!!

They need to write faster!!!!!"
Agreed! I like your birthday clause!!!!

I stole that from Bekah. I originally had it to buy 23 books (the 23rd is my birthday) but I thought I should try to show SOME restraint!

Given that I want to get a Nook soon, I want to work on the paperback books I already own (from 85-90...I'll need to re-count them to get a specific #.
"Reduce my TBR so I can get my Nook" Challenge
Reduce my Paperback TBR by 15 books by March 1st
This means that when I count my paperbacks TBR on March 1st, I MUST have 15 less books than I had on Dec. 31st.

I'll be conservative (again!) in my BYO challenge.
Read at least 1 book per month in 2011.
In total, that would be at least 12 books this year, with some months having more than one books. I'm also going to say that the books that I finished reading can be started in the previous month since that gives me more of a leeway to my picky reading.
That said, this would also include any challenges that I participated in, and anything that caught my interest, like a Spell challenge that isn't restricted to a month but to my whim.

Go ahead, make a resolution...
You know you want to...
I can see it in your posts...
There are too many books on your To Be Read pile and you want to finally make a dent in it. Or your book buying is simply out of control and you need to get a handle on it. Perhaps you just need to organize your Goodreads shelves so you can see what you've already read, or need to read, or *gasp* want to buy.
Well, you've come to the right place, my friend!
Whatever your New Year's Bookish Resolutions might be, you can list them here and keep track of your progress. We'll be here to cheer you on as you reach your goals, and help you find ways to justify falling off the wagon!
Restrictions - Not many. You can list your resolution anytime you want to and make changes as often as you need to. Your resolution can be on a month by month basis, quarterly or even span the entire year. YOU decide.
Because this challenge lasts the entire year and there will be so many varying versions, in addition to keeping track of stats here, I'd suggest using the "Your 2011 Reading Logs" folder to create a thread where you can keep track as well, then post your progress here and I'll update your stats.
Our very charming Bekah has created the folder and it can be found here:
Your 2011 Reading Logs
I hope you'll join us!
