Ellen (barbanellie) | 12 comments After an encouragingly successful 2010 challenge, here are this year's candidates:

1. She's Come Undone, by Wally Lamb
2. The Salmon of Doubt: Hitchhiking the Galaxy One Last Time, by Douglas Adams
3. Cat's Eye, by Margaret Atwood
4. The Stand, by Stephen King (I've had it FOREVER, and the only way I'll ever bring myself to reading it is if I "force" myself through this challenge. I'm already scared!)
5. The Book Thief, by Markus Zusak
6. Alone in Berlin, by Hans Fallada
7. Into the Mummy's Tomb (Short stories collection)
8. Friends, Lovers, Chocolate, by Alexander McCall Smith (I vowed not to read more of his books after reading the first in this and his other series, but I've owned this book in hardcover for at least 5 years, gift from my mother-in-law, and I cannot bring myself to giving it away until I've read it)
9. The Little Vampire, by Angela Summer-Bodenburg (this one is the joke of my list. I bought it for fun at a used bookstore over 5 years ago, because I remembered watching the show as a kid, but never read it because it does seem very childish. I figured I needed something very light to balance out The Stand!)
10.Utopia, by Thomas More (wanted to read it because of the movie Ever After, with Drew Barrymore!)
11. The Red Power Murders, by Thomas King
12. Foucault's Pendulum, by Umberto Eco (my father-in-law loaned me this book at least two years ago, and I'm a bit ashamed that I've never read it, but I never seem to feel like reading it. Hopefully putting it in this challenge will help me return it to him!)

Wish me luck!

Sheila (sheilalynn) I love the movie Ever After! Good luck with Utopia. It looks like an interesting book. I have always meant to read it and never got around to it.

Ellen (barbanellie) | 12 comments Oops, IO forgot to keep this list updated! I did finish all twelve, read the last one in early December. I'm working on my 2012 list right now!
