Jim (jimmaclachlan) I've nominated the Corean Chronicles as a series for discussion in the Fantasy Book Club Series group. I'd like to encourage you all to join up & vote for it. The Recluse series has also been nominated.

Here's the nomination thread.

I'd also like to discuss it here whether it wins or not over there. I have 7 books so far; 2 complete trilogies plus the first in the next one. Is anyone else reading it?

Harsh Verma The Corean Chronicles are fantastic. However the later ones in the series are far better than the initial ones. I liked Scepters and Darknesses much more than the original series. And the Lady Protector series was even better. I also had a chat with Modesitt and asked him to think of a sequels to Scepters in terms of building a new order of guardians. There was one issue which I felt that he hadnt addressed adequately. In Darknesses the female ruler of Madiren has unleashed a reign of terror on men but in the process has provided security and a rule of law as compared to chaos and insecurity elsewhere. Yet she was portrayed as evil in the book. At some place even Alosyius wonders whether the only alternative to despotism is anarchy but the question is never really answered in the book which then becomes another adventure story. It is of course very interesting but this either/or business was a bit unsettling for me.
