Diane U (djuseless) I am thinking about getting a new cover for my kindle 2. My hubby bought me a M-Edge light for Christmas that I have been using but I would like to store it in my cover. I currently have this one:

http://www.amazon.com/Kindle-Leather-...

I am trying to decide between this one:

http://www.amazon.com/Platform-Leathe...

and this one:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002...

I am kind of leaning towards the second one so that the light is not out in the open.

Does anyone have any experience with either of these???

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) My new Kindle currently lives in a bubble-wrap pocket, so no help here! I'm planning on knitting a cover for it and lining the cover with the bubble wrap :) Amazon.co.uk are offering two styles of leather covers, but one costs £30 and the other £60 - waaaaay out of my price range, and think of all the books you could buy with that money!

Have to admit, I do like the first one, the darker pink one.

Diane U (djuseless) I like the first one because it has straps to hold down all 4 corners instead of clipping it in on the left and stapping the other two right handed corners. I already have a cover and I could just throw the light in my purse on vacations so I am not sure if I am even going to buy a new one since it is not a necessity. You are right Rachel, I could buy more books with the money instead!

Your two options open on different sides. Do you think you'd like the one that opens on the ends? I think I like the one that opens like a book, like what you already have, rather than a tablet. That's just my opinion and I hope I like that style cause that's what I bought off of ebay (it's pink plaid).

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) I'm not condemning you for buying a cover Diane, I probably would get one if the ones over here weren't so expensive! I'm a penny pinching student right now so balk at the idea of spending £30 for a Kindle cover - although the ones you showed us are much cheaper than the UK ones. Maybe because the Kindle has been around for longer over there?

A light would be really handy for reading on journeys at night. I do have a clip on one but it's pretty flimsy and falls all over the place!

Diane U (djuseless) Oh Rachel, I did not take it that way at all! I already have a cover that works well but I was thinking of getting a new one to hold the light. But I could always bring the light with me in my purse for trips since I leave it on my night stand for reading in bed. It would be different if I didn't have a cover but I do. I am also afraid that it will feel bulkier than my current cover and I won't like it. I think I'd rather buy some more books instead! LOL!

Besides, the pink one that I wanted is no longer available. It just comes in black now for $19.99 or in red for $24.99. Never mind, I'll keep what I have!

Kristy (riverunbroken) | 250 comments I bought a cover for my kindle that comes with a light. It's pretty neat. I have my mom's old cover that she had bought because she bought a purple one. So I can trade off, but her new one is easier to put on and take out.

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) I think I may need to get started on making a cover for my Kindle, it seems to crash whenever it gets too cold, which happens a lot at night here because of the Scottish winters :(

message 9: by Kristy (new)

Kristy (riverunbroken) | 250 comments What do you do when it crashes? That's not good.

message 10: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) You just press the on-off switch in for 20 seconds and it restarts. I've never lost any books, just sometimes it forgets where I was in the book I was reading when it crashed. It's a bit annoying but thankfully nothing major. But yeah, it happened a few times when I was at university but only once when I've been at home and I think it's due to how cold my flat is. I'm going to wrap it in a scarf or something at night and see if that helps!

Diane U (djuseless) I had a problem with my kindle after downloading a PDF file that the kindle said to be corrupt or could not be read. By holding the on-off switch for 20 seconds, you are doing a "hard restart". I had to call kindle customer support for help since the regular restart was not helping me. It's a handy tip to know!

message 12: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Yeah, I had to call them to find out about the "hard restart" option. Maybe it's viewing PDFs that causes the problem? Since NetGalley don't always have the Kindle option anymore I've had to put several of them on to my Kindle as PDFs. I know that there's a program called Calibre that you can use to convert to Kindle format so I may do that in future and see if it makes a difference.

Diane U (djuseless) Rachel~

Have you made your cover for your kindle yet?? I found two different knitting patterns to make (one opens at the top, the other to the right). Message me with your email address and I will send you the PDF files of these patterns.

If anyone else is interested, feel free to do the same!

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Ooh, that sounds great! I haven't got around to making one yet. I'll PM you.

I got my cover & I love it! It's different than anyone else's that I seen around. I've got my Kindle 3 tucked away in Pink plaid. Here's the link to it on ebay (Rachel -- they ship to Europe!)

Kristy (riverunbroken) | 250 comments that is cool. Haven't seen one with a snap before. I like it. I have a dark blue one. It was supposed to be light blue, but it came dark blue. I like it though because it's dark enough to hide dirt and it's still my favorite color. It comes with a light too.
