I live in California, USA. I am an electronics tech. Other than reading, I play WoW as a great way to wind down on some days. I have two boys, 20 and 10 years old. They are awesome.

LOL! Lolliepop, enjoyed your nickname and introduction. At the moment I am my favorite color....lavender! I am also OT (Off Topic) as I seem to get onto different ideas and cannot resist emailing about them which some groups cannot bear.
I was an Air Force brat and Air Force wife so have traveled to many places. I have lived in Japan, Newfoundland and England plus visited Iceland, Luxembourg and Germany. I wish I could travel more but poor health now. My son was just in Malaysia from Japan (he is there with the AF). We are going to Taos NM tomorrow.
I am currently in Colorado, USA. It took me a long time to move here but I came here for years on vacation.

Hello Lady Lavender! Glad to have you here!! I really wanted to travel around the world and I wanted to visit countries like France, Japan, Russia, Australia, Spain, China, India, and so many other countries. I'm always eager in learning about other cultures, so visiting them sounds fun! How was it in Japan and Germany Lavender?

Japan was wonderful. I lived there for two years and we lived on base. At that time the military stationed there were encouraged to hire a Japanese maid so my sister and I often had one taking care of us. My sister spoke Japanese first! I have wonderful memories and I am still very influenced by Japanese art and gardens.
I would love to continue traveling but .....
Travel while you are young and have the energy for it.
Now I read Bill Bryson and get some laughs from his travels.
Remember there is lots to see here too.

Hello Lady! Glad to have you here in this group! I'm sorry that racism is going on in your country. It even happens in the U.S.

Oh man, I just love Bill Bryson! I just finished his At Home: A short history of private life ; it was a fascinating tour of how "home" evolved!

You're welcome!! I'm so glad that we have another member who also believes that prejudice and racism is wrong!

So-good for you all starting this group. :)
Hello Ellie!! Glad you joined this group!! Patricia Polacco is one of my favorite authors too and her books are just perfect in discussing about the importance of multicultural relationships!

I look forward to discussing books and these topics with you all. I have written two books in a YA series that touch on the illogical hatred that can exist between two groups of people. I see that some of you have traveled, and I have also been able to see a lot of the world. I think it helps to see how other people live. It helps one realize that people are not really different, regardless of where or when they live.

I am a retired FBI Agent and ex-cop, familiar with the dangers of prejudice and racism. Later this year I will be giving a short presentation on Hate Crimes at a multi-cultural event in Kansas City.
Please visit my author page and blog.
Feel free to contact me if I can help with any initiative that fights prejudice, racism and hate.
Thanks,
Michael Tabman

Hello Denise! It's great having you here! I'm sorry about what happened to you. It's a shame that people would tease everyone who are different and it's something that I wish we could help everyone understand that it's never good to tease or bully anyone based on their race.

Thanks Denise!! I agree that bullying is getting so bad nowandays and it should definitely stop.

Hi there. Thank you so much for the welcome :-)

Bummer, it's not at either of the two library districts I use...

Hello Eden! It's great having you here!! I'm sorry about the racism you had to endure throughout your life and I hope that more people are more understanding about respecting other cultures.
