Oooh, controversial. Considering he is Jace, to the tee, even personality wise, I have to respectfully disagree with you.
I am going to have to agree with Mairead on this one. i personally have never seen someone who fits a character in a book better than Alex with Jace.
I guess I just read it differently, i'm one of a minority who feel this way. I guess i'm being unrealistic because I haven't really seen anyone who I think could play Jace! Its like no one can do him justice!I hope this doesn't turn into a Twilight scenario :/

Taking this role could do him more harm than good. It's hard to know if this movie would make or break his career. It could be a HUGE positive thing for him and get him more recognition, or it could be the nail in the coffin of his career. Doing 3 teen movies back to back? (Beastly, I am Number Four and Mortal Instruments) If he wants to transition into adult or more serious roles, this could typecast him into only being a teen heartthrob (and I really hate that word, but that's the term) and screw with his career.
Just for the record, I really DO hope he takes it! I'm not trying to be a downer here. :)
as far as looks go i think he'd make a perfect Jace... but personality wise... not sure, i know nothing about him. but isn't this like the third role he would take as an adaptation of a book? Everyone has high expectations for Jace... I sure do;-) I just hope he can pull it off.

I think we just haven't found someone as good.

Alex Petteyfer would be PERFECT to play Jace! He's so hot, never seen an actor look so much like the fictional character the way I imagined them.

around the net about whether Alex is going to be Jace or not. The answer
remains a complete 'Nobody knows.' For the moment Wikipedia has it right

Basically, the sumup is: There's no official news, and likely won't be for a
while. I hope that helps. I also think it's a good idea to keep in mind that
life goes on even if he doesn't get cast. It won't affect whether they make

Especially if you read all the comments that "he" has supposedly made- the one about trusting imdb? I don't know, but I highly doubt it is him.
So I know that I am really really late on this topic but I really would have loved to see Alex Pettyfer as Jace. Don't get me wrong, I love Jamie Campbell but I just think that Jace should have been just a bit more muscular. But who knows maybe he'll work out for City of Ashes.

I wanted to wait till I could have an official chat with the studio folks before I said anything, so my small contribution is: I know Alex has met with the director, Scott Stewart, several times; I know he screened Scott's movie, Priest, and loved it; I know he read the TMI books over the holidays and really liked them and liked Jace, and asked his representatives to negotiate making a deal for the role of Jace. At this point it's all about the deal, which really doesn't have anything to do with me, so I stand back and wait for news like the rest of you.
