What about anthologies? For the purpose of this challenge could I use say Eric Dragomire from Richelle Meads "Sunshine" and then use Kirk from Francesca Lia Blocks "Lilith"? They are two different offerings from two different authors enclosed in the same book. Not that it really matters. There's still what? Eleven months to finish this challenge? Im just wondering.

I would say 1 character per book. The anthology as a whole equals a book so just pick the most unique letter. If I were you I'd keep a list of names for possible use. That way if you come across another name with the same letter you can use it and that opens you up to use a different name. If that makes any sense...

I'm In. I've never done this before but it could be fun.

Heather- is it ok to use Barrons for Shadowfever (your example at the beginning). I know he is not the main character but would he be considered main enough of a character? Thanks.

You're basically looking for the main character and then then 2-3 biggest supporting characters. While his role is smaller in that book, he's still such a huge part of her internal drama that I'd say no problem.
