Cherrybomb (wvcherrybomb) | 68 comments Just finished reading Shattered Dreams: My Life as a Polygamist's Wifeand it was great! By far the most well written of the polygamist wives' books that I've read.

Irene Spencer comes across as honest and sincere. This is the first book of it's kind that I haven't had any doubts about. I believe she gives the readers a 100% accurate account. I am absolutely going to read her other book, Cult Insanity: A Memoir of Polygamy, Prophets, and Blood Atonement.

This is a must read for anyone interested in the subject matter.

Cherrybomb (wvcherrybomb) | 68 comments Possession by Ann Rule

This is not true crime like I thought it was when I started reading. Even for fiction it sucked. Ann Rule needs to stick to the real thing.

Cherrybomb (wvcherrybomb) | 68 comments The Year She Fell by Alicia Rasley The Mole People Life in the Tunnels Beneath New York City by Jennifer Toth

Currently reading.

If anyone would like to discuss any of the books I have read this year, or ever, feel free to leave a post. Or even just leave your opinion of any of them, even if it differs from my own.

Another one by Irene Spencer. Interesting, but so far not as good as Shattered Dreams: My Life as a Polygamist's Wife

Cherrybomb (wvcherrybomb) | 68 comments Flowers in the Attic (Dollanganger, #1) by V.C. Andrews

Believe it or not, I've never read this. I remember lots of others reading it when I was a teenager and not much into fiction. Thought I'd give it a chance now.

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 3289 comments My cousin used to make me listen (she's blind) to these with her as a kid. This series used to give me the creeps. I never picked them up for that reason. How are you liking it?

message 13: by Cherrybomb (new)

Cherrybomb (wvcherrybomb) | 68 comments I am about 50% on Flowers in the Attic and I'm not caring much for it. I can see why many teens were reading it back in the day ... it seems to be written for a younger audience despite the adult situations.

I'll eventually finish it since it's a quick read but I doubt if I'll read any more in the series. The story almost seems silly to me.

Yeah, I remember being confused by the relationships that the characters had.

Hey, what did you think of the Christian fiction books? Were they any good?

message 16: by Cherrybomb (new)

Cherrybomb (wvcherrybomb) | 68 comments I am still on the first one since I read so many other things at once. It is GREAT so far!

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 3289 comments That's good to know! :-)

Marcy | 67 comments Did you find Daughters of Zion as an ebook? I've been wanted to read that after reading the books by Irene Spencer and Susan Schmidt, but couldn't find it as an epub ebook.

message 19: by Cherrybomb (new)

Cherrybomb (wvcherrybomb) | 68 comments Marcy, I sent you a private message about the book. I've also got the other by Irene Spencer if you are interested in that one. It's not as good as the others but still interesting because it's the same people.
