Who knows if I'll actually be able to finish the list, but they're pretty much all books I wanted to read anyway!

I'm kind of nervous about The Host, because even though it sounds really interesting I didn't really like the Twilight books. This will sort of give me an excuse to read it.

Gayle (gretarahikkainen) | 125 comments I read a lot of historical fiction. I'm betting that I can come up with close to, if not over, 100 books on my "to-be-read" shelves that I could use to fill this challenge. Some of them are classics like The Three Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas and others are by authors like Margaret George, Dorothy Dunnett, Sara Douglas, etc. Plus, I know that there are many books that would fit into the mix that I've been having trouble finding (like Brief Gaudy Hour by Margaret Campbell Barnes). I will attempt to post a list later this week. Maybe this will help me whittle down my TBR shelves!

Gayle (gretarahikkainen) | 125 comments Here is my list, so far. I've purposely left some spaces blank because I KNOW that within the 5 years there will be some more books that I find that I'll want to read. I currently own most of the books listed (under 10 that I don't at this point in time.) When I finish a book, I'll put the date finished to keep track of what I've read and have yet to go. All books are either historical fiction or non-fiction.

Sure, Barb. If you want. Welcome to the challenge.

Barb Great, thanks! My only (self-imposed) restriction for the rest of 2012 is that the books have to be from series I've already begun.

NOTE: There are several #1 in series on my list. I'd already read another book from the series (usually for our book group at work), so I feel justified in counting #1 as 'continuing the series' :)

Start: 7/1/2012
Completed: 10/100

I looked at several "Top 100" lists and the majority were extremely boring looking. I liked the looks of this BBC 100 list much better. If I run into any that take me longer than a month to read, I'll probably swap it out with something different that I have wanted to read. I am already group reading The Hobbit, so that's a start! Also, am backdating this as some I have just read in the past couple weeks as group reads.

1. The Lord of the Rings, JRR Tolkien

2. Pride and Prejudice, Jane Austen, 10/12/12

3. His Dark Materials, Philip Pullman
4. The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Douglas Adams
5. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, JK Rowling
6. To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee
7. Winnie the Pooh, AA Milne

8. 1984, George Orwell, 7/26/12
9. The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, C.S. Lewis, 8/8/12
