I hate my home, sighed Corra. she wanted to be free.. away from the dangereous, madmen they called peacekeepers.

She wanted to be free... doing whatever she wanted. But now she would have to be in the Hunger Games. and there's no escaping that!

Corra replayed the reaping in her mind. Her name being called, her mother crying. her body numb as she stepped up to the stage. She thought, these are my final days being alive.

She looked at her mentor: Gregory
He was a tall, 30 year old man who had survived the Hunger Games. He would be the only one who would understand her in the upcoming weeks.

The next day, Corra found out even worse news: Her mom had killed herself. Corra skipped her 'makeover' and stayed in bed, crying.
