Erika Mulvenna (misssews-it-all) Hello all! I'm Erika in the Chicago area, and I sew, do a bit of quilting, and am addicted to sewing books! My most recent finds are a vintage Good Housekeeping Book of Quilt Making from 1976 (great pictures!) and a new sewing book Little Girls, Big Style (from which I hope to sew for my little girl this summer). I always have way more sewing projects on my wish-to-sew list than I ever have time to get around to, and have about 3 projects going on right now. Nice to meet you!

Welcome, Erika! I have one vintage sewing book: How to make clothes that fit and flatter by Adele Margolis. The copyright is 1969. Of course, I no longer sew clothes, but it's kind of fun to look through!

Shannon (frecklesquilts) | 104 comments Welcome.....Erika!!!!

I find myself wanting to go back in time a little. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't want to give up my rotary cutter and Omnigrid ruler.

Charm Packs, Jelly Rolls, Layer Cakes!

I had a dream the other night that I went to a quilt store and no yardage was available only little packs of fabric....and it was sold by a ROBOT sales associate.

That's funny, Erika! I think you've been watching too much Jeopardy with Watson! :-)

Kathryn (kathrynh) Hello everyone! I just returned from Salt Lake City and the International Quilt Market. The owner of the shop where I work parttime and another employee drove approximately 750 miles from Wentachee to Salt Lake City. It took us two days and it was such fun to see the greenery of spring in Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Utah. Quilt Market was unbelievable. There are so many new designers as well as all of the fabric companies we know and love. My favorite new fabric company is Riley Blake (http://www.rileyblakedesigns.com/). He has such fresh and modern designers. I arrived home yesterday with lots of samples and a couple of kits. One night during the show they have Sample Spree where many of the fabric lines have patterns, FQ, kits and accessories to purchase wholesale. Was that ever fun! It's now back to the real world of home and work. I found spring is in full bloom here at home and everything is so beautiful.

Good to hear that it's spring somewhere in this part of the country! Sounds like you had a great time, Kathryn!

Love to hear more about the show. Lots of panels, lots of embroidery, new colors in jelly rolls and such?
