I have it on hold at the library, so so excited! I want to know more about Roger's father's mysterious death that was touched upon in Echo. Does Hallows discuss his death at all?

It does, but I won't spoil it for you. I agree with Kathleen, I wish it was a longer story.

What is this? New book?

A collection of short stories. The book is called Songs of Love and Death. One of the stories is A Leaf on the Wind of All Hallows. Gives background into Roger's parents. A good story.

I know almost all of us are going to read Songs of Love and Death b/c of DG's contribution. What about the other short stories? Are they just as compelling as DG's work?

Haven't gotten to the 'others' yet...just so taken with 'A Leaf'...worth the price of the whole collection if you ask me...I just want to say - 'what FUN!'...I have shared Diana with as many people as I can - and the concensus is that she is a phenom, plain and simple (a contradiction in terms if I've ever heard one)...but, c'maghn! My aquaintenances are fairly well read and NONE can recall an author with DG's capacity - to enthrall, to engage, to amaze - och, I could go on and on. Just when you can't imagine her being able to come up with MORE twists'n'turns in her unbelievably complex and compelling saga - she devises an amazing backstory for our beloved Rog...she makes Jerry and Dolly MacKenzie come to life on each page. She makes us care about them - seperate and apart from whatever part they play in Roger's story - and then - AND THEN! she figures out a way to weave ROG HIMSELF - as we know him in the Outlander series !BAM! smack into the middle of denouement of this seemingly insignificant little short story...ifrin!

I haven't read it yet. I've on a kick now reading Jeffery Deaver books.

I was actually really bored with all the flying details. I found the story verra enjoyable once the crash took place. Fun stuff indeed!

Yes, I did as well as all LJ novels. The only thing I haven't read is the short story in Warriors.

OK! So did you love the reference DG made to Roger's verra distant recollection of a paternal voice sayin', "I've got you" (or something to that effect) in ABOSAA?

I read A leaf on the wind of all hallows the other day and I was wondering if someone can help me remember something, there are two characters in it that DG says are mentioned in Echo in the bone (view spoiler)[The characters I'm talking about are the two men that help Jerry get back to his time, who are they and how do they know him? This book was SSOOOO sad. And I'm so conflicted if I want Roger to know how it turned out or not. It would be nice if he knew that his (view spoiler)[ Dad made it back and saved him (hide spoiler)] but so sad that (view spoiler)[ he sent him to his own death. (hide spoiler)]

Can you fill me on on how (view spoiler)[Roger's dad saved him? I haven't read them, but I would love to know how that plays out (hide spoiler)].

I don't know if you remember the story of how Roger says his Mother died? (view spoiler)[ I can't remember exactly where they were (train station?) they were in a crowded area and there was obviously going to be an explosion. Either his Mom was already holding him or she picked him up and she started moving through the crowd with determination and she threw him at someone who catches him and saves him from the explosion. The person who catches him is his Father, who when going back to the future, didn't make it to the right year. He hadn't even seen his Wife or Son and had been considered dead that whole time. His wife's first glimpse of him is when she sees him and heads towards him and throws Roger to him just before the explosion. He manages to protect Roger from it, but dies in the process. Thank u :-D if the answer is in book 8 I'm not touching those spoilers lol I'm planning on starting it this month, but when DG said they were mentioned in book 7 I got antsy because I couldn't remember them.

I do believe they are mentioned in book 7 but I can't remember where or when. Probably towards the end though. It's not said directly because the plot hasn't unraveled yet but if you can remember the story and the details, you can probably figure it out.

Oh, I had forgotten about this title! Another to add to the weekend reading pile!
