Jennifer (photofoxy) | 12 comments I don't know why, but lately I've really been into Historical Romances that have those yummy dangerous heroes like Justin Kylemore from Claiming the Courtesan. Do any of you lovely ladies have any suggestions?

message 2: by [deleted user] (new)

I LOVED Claiming the Courtesan. Have you read any of Julie Garwood's books? Honors Splendour ... Randsom.... Saving Grace....
Karin Tabke' Blood Sword series..

People seem to like this one a lot The Devil's Waltz, and it's still in print.

Zee Monodee (zee_monodee) | 688 comments Definitely check out Anne Stuart's historicals! Her heroes are something else altogether. :)

message 11: by Shellbelle (new)

Shellbelle | 161 comments I have alway loved the Hero's from Jude Deveraux's books! (her historicals anyway) They are delicious, especially the Montgomery Men and their cousins the Taggerts! *sigh* time for some rereads....

Some of my favs are
A Knight in Shining Armor by Jude Deveraux The Velvet Promise (Montgomery #2) by Jude Deveraux Highland Velvet (Montgomery, #3) by Jude Deveraux Velvet Song (Montgomery, #4) by Jude Deveraux Twin of Ice (Taggert , #2) (Chandler Twins, #2) by Jude Deveraux The Enchanted Land by Jude Deveraux

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) I love Jude Deveraux's work! I have to admit I avoid her a lot because she makes me cry.

message 13: by [deleted user] (new)

Hey is there crying in The Velvet Promise There was in a Knight in Shinning Armor..... I was exhausted after reading that! I loved it but....

The Velvet series is not as emotionally draining as The Knight in Shinning Armor. It's not fluff for sure, but I didn't cry in any of the Velvet series (which is my fav by her, I love velvet song, I even used the spelling of the Heriones name for my daughter when I decided to name her Alex, it's spelled Alyx:) Anyhoo back on track...If you liked The Knight in Shinning Armor but don't want all the emotional baggage def. give the Velvet series a try!

message 15: by [deleted user] (new)

Thank you! I have the Velvet Promise ... I will read that.

Jude Deveraux is one of my classic authors. I always wanted to marry into the Montgomery/Taggart family.

All those good looking in-laws! Holidays would be so much fun:)

message 21: by Lynette (new)

Lynette Smith | 21 comments Mine too! I have all her books and have read all of them at least twice. Due to everyone's ravings about Lisa Kleypas I bought 5 books and have read "It happened in Autumn" last week - LOVED IT. Currently reading " Blue eyed Devil" it"s even better. Thanks Ladies for getting me to buy them, especially Megan you make all the books sound great and so far they all have turned out to be great reads.

message 22: by Shellbelle (new)

Shellbelle | 161 comments I just started Lisa Kleypas too for the first time and I love her! I'm getting ready to start It Happened One Autumn, I'm really loving the Wallflower series:)

message 23: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh isn't it wonderful!!!!!!!!!!

message 24: by ~Megan~ (new)

~Megan~ (megadee) | 1084 comments Mod
Awesome!! Kleypas is one of those rare writers where pretty much everything she writes is stellar.

message 25: by Love love (new)

Love love | 151 comments The book I'm reading right now has a great (at least so far) dangerous hero. It's Amber Moment by Marion Marshall .

message 26: by Shellbelle (new)

Shellbelle | 161 comments Has anyone read Julia Quinn? I have only read 10things I love about You, and I really liked it:) But the hero was pretty mild. Are most of them that way? Or any suggestions on which ones of hers are good? Thanks

message 27: by ~Megan~ (new)

~Megan~ (megadee) | 1084 comments Mod
I love Julia Quinn!! She leans more toward funny than dangerous, though. Her Bridgerton series is awesome, and since you liked 10 Things, I think you'd love What Happens in London which is the book before that and one of my faves!

message 28: by Shellbelle (new)

Shellbelle | 161 comments UGGGHHHH! I didn't realize there was a book before it! I hate reading books out of order, but at least I didn't feel like I was missing anything. I will have to give it a try, and the Bridgerton series. Thanks for the help:)

message 29: by Palwasha (new)

Palwasha | 12 comments Karen Marie Moning's highlander series!!! it's a total new perspective on highlanders and historical time. but in the series there are a couple of time travelling magic tricks that occur. you might find it enjoyable. try it.

message 30: by Camila (new)

Camila (c_lete) | 1 comments I Love Lisa Kleypas' Bow Street Runners! And Stephanie Laurens Cynster series, Bastion Club and Black Cobra Quartet! There were these other series that I loved where the males worked as agents for Whitehall but I can't emember the name of the book or the author and I've searched amongst my books but I can't find them! Maybe I am confusing them with the ones already mentioned but I have it in my head that it's a different series than those.

message 31: by Jill (last edited Sep 18, 2012 02:37PM) (new)

Jill It's not the Cynster novels by the same author, Stephanie Laurens. They cross over with the Bastion club books. I love them all, great hero's.

message 32: by Jill (new)

Jill Jamie Fraser is a wonderful dangerous hero from the outlander series.
Also Nathaniel Bonner, Bears Running Fast, Hawkeye, and well most of the men in Sara Donati's Into the wilderness series. Love them all.
Devil Cynster from devil's Bride by Stephanie Laurens.

Jill, I love Sara Donati's heroes too.

I think Wulfgar from KEW's The Wolf and the Dove by Kathleen E. Woodiwiss qualifies as dangerous. Agree on KMM's highlanders. Julie Garwood's historical heroes are supposed to be dangerous but they never quite "feel" that way to me. But I love em anyway.

message 35: by Ashley (new)

Ashley (shinhbang) | 139 comments Ohhh Highlanders! love them! Monica McCarty writes amazing ones! <3 Viper and Hawk! :)

Aren't they just awesome, I think Jean Benoit and Simon Ballentyme are just amazing. Such a great series.

message 37: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (laurenjberman) Just finished Ruthless (The House of Rohan, #1) by Anne Stuart and Francis Rohan definitely qualifies.

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 9851 comments Mod
Did you like Ruthless and Francis, Lauren?

I think he was very authentic for a rake. It seems as though many HR 'rakes' are 'fake rakes.' He's the real deal.

message 39: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (laurenjberman) Yes, I enjoyed his character very much. As you say, he is very authentic even though I got the impression that his heart wasn't into being so debauched and he was looking for a way out.

message 40: by Danielle The Book Huntress , Loves 'Em Lethal (new)

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 9851 comments Mod
Yeah, I definitely got the impression he was bored with that lifestyle when Elinore came along. I think he was actually kind of softy in how he took care of Elinore and her family.

message 41: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (laurenjberman) Yes, he definitely had a soft spot when it came to her. I thought that his darker side was tempered by his kindnesses to the family and his behavior with his housekeeper, Mrs. Clarke.

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 9851 comments Mod
I agree. Have you read Reckless yet? I think Adrian was a bit more of a hedonist, not really honorable for the most part.

message 43: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (laurenjberman) Haven't read it yet but many of my GR friends say that it is even better than Ruthless, so I'm looking forward to it.

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 9851 comments Mod
I hope you enjoy it. I haven't read Shameless (book 4) yet, but I have loved all three books that I've read. Reckless is probably the most 'romantic' one, I think.

message 45: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (laurenjberman) Goody. Lots to look forward to then.

Can't wait to see what you think of Reckless and Breathless!

message 47: by Kit★ (last edited Oct 22, 2012 11:57AM) (new)

Kit★ (xkittyxlzt) Well that's good to hear. I've had Breathless for like a year or so, but I didn't want to read it until I had found the first two. But I just got Ruthless the other day, so I'm one step closer to finally reading them. What about the little prequel story? I have that too, was it good?

message 48: by Danielle The Book Huntress , Loves 'Em Lethal (new)

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 9851 comments Mod
I really liked the prequel story. It was short, which is a huge issue for some of the readers, but not for me. It was Anne Stuart goodness to me.

message 49: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (laurenjberman) I'm not a fan of novellas (not enough character or plot development) so I didn't read it.

message 50: by Danielle The Book Huntress , Loves 'Em Lethal (new)

You might not have liked it then, Lauren.
