Joy H. (joyofglensfalls) | 16697 comments I am from Queensbury. I enjoy using the Glens Falls public library, known as Crandall Library. I was born in 1934 in Westchester County, NY. For 25 years, my husband and I camped on the Lake George Islands with our 4 sons. Then we retired, in 1991, to this area, which we love. We have 4 grandchildren.

I'm looking forward to meeting other book lovers at this discussion group.

BTW, for the folks from outside NYS, Glens Falls is a city within the town of Queensbury.
Glens Falls was named "Hometown USA" by Look Magazine back in the 1940s.

Jackie (thelastwolf) | 4050 comments I go to all the Crandall Library Book Sales. They are the only 'Must Attend' events in my life. I even take off work just so I can be there before they open on the first day.
The Lake George Library (Caldwell) is small and we get very personal service. The librarians there are the BEST. They always manage to find exactly what I need even if I don't know what it is yet. They were integral to my research for my novel, I couldn't have done it so easily without them.
I rarely leave Lake George, I'm content to sit by the Lake with a book or curled up on the couch with a book. As long as it involves books, I'm happy.

Joy H. (joyofglensfalls) | 16697 comments Hi Jackie,
We've donated a lot of old books to the Crandall Library fundraising book sales. Sometimes I wish I could get some of them back. I gave away one entitled "I Passed This Way" by Sylvia Ashton Warner. It was one of my favorites, but at the time I thought I should be thinning out my possessions. I've changed my mind about that since! :-)

Below is a link to the book: ===>

I understand your preferring to sit by the lake with a book. Sometimes I just sit by the lake and gaze at the lake. :-)

As for curling up on the couch with a good book, that's one life's best experiences!

Joy H. (joyofglensfalls) | 16697 comments Jackie - You mentioned your novel. Can you tell us something about it?

Jackie (thelastwolf) | 4050 comments It's a bout a werewolf, but it is a completely unique take on the werewolf myth. Something never before explored. I can't really say much because I don't want to give it away. I'm a long way from finished, so I guess 'novel' isn't the proper term. What do I call it, while it's still in the works?

Joy H. (joyofglensfalls) | 16697 comments That's a good question, Jackie. I don't know why you can't call it a novel. That's what it is. The word "manuscript" comes to mind. You might say you are working on your manuscript for a novel. I'm not sure about that but it sounds OK to me.

Cambridge Dictionary online says:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
manuscript: the original copy of a book or article before it is printed.
Example: He sent the 400-page manuscript to his publisher.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Have you written other novels? I vaguely remember that you said you have.
