Do you have any "world" thrillers or mysteries that would you would like to swap to some other of the same genre?
Or make a big virtual book box, put the books on the list, take whichever you like and replace the same amount with the books of the same genre etc?
List 'em here.

You can list which (swap or box) would you prefer, and list what you have and/or what you would like to swap it with. If you end up doing something else for the listed book e.g. via bookcrossing, please update the topic so no unavailable or already gone books are listed.
(Also your location, or country, and shipping preferences are good to mention)

I have a few in mind (like ten or so) that I'm planning for something in this category....

In case any of you Goodreaders are also in bookcrossing, and located in US or Canada, there's a World Mystery & Thriller virtual book box: http://www.bookcrossing.com/forum/20/...

Ken Fredette (klfredette) I would like a book swap. I have 10 or so books available at this time.
The majority are paperbacks (8) and four hardback. I live in a suburb of Chicago, USA. I have to take them out of my books for sale so I'll be back.

Awesome.
List what you would have/would like to have and shipping preferences (I guess US media mail sounds good for US swaps).
I'll have a look around the weekend what I could list here (and update later as appropriate).

Ken Fredette (klfredette) These books are listed under Bookswap Karma. You get there by clicking on my picture (the cat), then it is on the lower left hand side under Bookswap Karma. I was just listing them when I got a hit on The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

Ken Fredette (klfredette) Bookswap Karma is coming to an unexpected end at the end of this month. What is the next best exchange? I know there around.

I've exchanged several books with Bookcrossing.com members, and it has worked well for me.

Either as a "Hey, I have a book you have on your wish list, would you be interested in swapping it for X, Y or Z books you have on your to be read list?" or a book box by theme. (like mystery books for US/Canada shipping options, mystery books shipping internationally, etc). (I like following the books I have read or set free, so several have the BC tracking number, but I don't register swappable books when asked)

There was also the bookcrossing World mystery bookbox (link above) with US/Canada shipping, but that book box ended a few weeks ago as the amount of participants shrunk to under 10.

I see no reason why we wouldn't be able to keep a "Want to swap a book?" list here, like in this thread.

List what you have, what you want (a specific book, author, country), and where can you ship (US/Can/Int.) - if there is a match, then swap address details, conditions of the book (if other than lightly or moderately read), agree on shipping methods etc. It should still be no more than the shipping cost. And update when a book is gone/not available/has arrived.

It's a bit low tech perhaps as a solution, but I'm not really into looking for yet another online book thing. Bookcrossing is great for some (a lot of) things, and Goodreads is great for others. If either has some people that have the same taste in books, and are interested in some swaps, whatever works best for providing the best swaps.

In US for US (and mil) there is media mail which is great for heavy books. I wish there was a similar one for Canada and Europe.

I should probably finally start to list some of the ones I have even if I don't have a huge stack available right now (any you see in my recent reviews, ask - they may be without future plans).

For all books I list:
Location (me or books) = US
* PB = trade paperback or paperback (US + Canadian shipping ok)
* HC = hardcover (US shipping, due to cost limitations elsewhere)
* BC = has a Bookcrossing tracking number in it (but no notes/labels against possible resale or swaps) (I also add their tracking link)
Book condition: unless otherwise specified, read/lightly used, no stains, no stinks, nothing falling apart etc
PB for PB, HC for HC sound fair?

Available for swap:
* Jar City, Arnaldur Indri∂ason (Story location: Iceland) - PB
* Borkmann's Point: An Inspector Van Veeteren Mystery, Håkan Nesser (Story location: generic, Sweden/Netherlands like country in Northern Europe) - PB - BC http://www.bookcrossing.com/journal/1...
* Willful Behavior, Donna Leon (Story location: Venice) - PB - BC http://www.bookcrossing.com/journal/1...
* Instruments of Darkness, Robert Wilson (Story location: West Africa, such as Benin, Togo, Nigeria, Ivory Coast) - PB - BC http://www.bookcrossing.com/journal/1...
* The Chinese Alchemist, Lynn Hamilton (Story location: China) - PB - BC http://www.bookcrossing.com/journal/9...

Interested in:
Stuff like Jo Nesbø (but read many of his books already), Michael Connelly (for style, not particularly him - only 2 of his Harry Bosch books left, and they wouldn't really fit in the world genre too well), 'noir' in general, or stuff like Andrea Camilleri
Plus I love discovering stories and authors from places that are exotic yet the stories are familiar, so suggestions are welcome :)

As the Bookrcossing World Mystery & Thriller box isn't there right now (and I don't want to organize a whole box there right now), I'll keep adding stuff here after reading them.

Ken Fredette (klfredette) Seems so hard to do. I'll think about it awhile.

Ken Fredette (klfredette) Ha, so you sent me the book of Robert Wilson's. The next reader will
be from Austria. My daughter is a mystery fan.

Yep, I did - since you liked the other book by Wilson. Hopefully you liked that one too, and I'm glad to know the books get good readers and some miles too. :)
