And the winner is.......

SCOTTISH MONARCHY

with 15 votes, barely beating out Royalty in Myth and Legend which had 14 votes. Please nominate up to two books focusing on the Scottish Monarchy at any period in history. Books can be both non-fiction and/or fiction. Nominations will be open until the 18th, and which time we will vote for the book of our choice.

Thanks all!!

List of nominees:

David I: The King Who Made Scotland by Richard Oram
Queen Hereafter: A Novel of Margaret of Scotland by Susan Fraser King
The Mouse's Tale by Stacie Whittaker
The Lion in the North by John Prebble
Kings and Queens of Scotland by W.A. Ross
The Forgotten Monarchy of Scotland: The True Story of the Royal House of Stewart and the Hidden Lineage of the Kings and Queens of Scots by Michael James Alexander Stewart
The Crown in the Heather by N. Gemini Sasson
Mary Queen of Scotland and the Isles by Margaret George

Mary Queen of Scots by Antonia Fraser
Lady Macbeth: A Novel by Susan Fraser King

The best thing about this is all of the wonderful books that people are nominating that I didn't know existed!

Just a reminder, when you nominate, please include the author's name as sometimes there are multiple books with the same title.

Again, Thanks!

message 12: by Jemidar (last edited Mar 13, 2011 11:12PM) (new)

Jemidar I'd like to second the nomination for Queen Hereafter: A Novel of Margaret of Scotland by Susan Fraser King.

But either of the above two would also be fine :-).

Aly (Alygator) | 174 comments Even though I'm not feeling Mary Queen of Scots at this particular moment, that doesn't mean that I won't feel like reading more about her in April or May. So that being said, I'd like to nominate Mary Queen of Scots by Antonia Fraser.

WOW - have you guys looked at the Margaret George book? It is a hefty one, lol. JUST KIDDING, it is hefty, but I love Margaret George's writing.

So far we have had great nominations. Keep em coming.

Christine - I was trying to find a good book about MacBeth to nominate myself. I forgot about this one, but I have wanted to read it for quite a while :)

Both of those have already been nominated. Do you want to nominate something else? It is not required, it is perfectly all right to nominate books that have already been nominated. Just thought I would give you the chance.

Thalia - I was going to nominate a book about Robert the Bruce, but I knew you would and probably knew better ones than I would, lol. :)

Thalia | 64 comments I notice no one is jumping in to nominate a certain drivel..er...novel by PG. That aside, these nominations are all fantastic! I think I shall add a bunch to my TBR list :)

LOL Thalia... you wouldn't mean The Other Queen, by any chance? I agree about the drivel... I noticed that, too but then remembered it was a group read on THL not long ago... maybe that's why it's absent from the noms?
