What upcoming releases are you most anxious for?

message 2: by Gwennie (last edited Mar 21, 2011 12:50PM) (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) In terms of Historical Fiction, I'm super excited for the final installment of the Earth Children series, The Land of Painted Caves, which comes out on Tuesday.

Then of course, Lover Unleashed comes out on the same day (I love BDB). On April 5th both Plague and City of Fallen Angels come out. But none of these are Historical Fiction.

We made a list of some of the YA HF coming out this year, Wendy, if you're interested. You might find something that sounds good to you ...

YA HF of 2011

message 4: by [deleted user] (last edited Mar 21, 2011 01:17PM) (new)

I am probably most excited for:

The Betrayal of Maggie Blair by Elizabeth Laird Cleopatra Confesses by Carolyn Meyer The Revenant by Sonia Gensler Cleopatra's Moon by Vicky Alvear Shecter The Berlin Boxing Club by Robert Sharenow Small Acts of Amazing Courage by Gloria Whelan Unsinkable (Titanic, #1) by Gordon Korman

message 5: by Veronica (new)

Veronica (veronica_mitchell) OOOO. Cleopatra Confesses looks really good! I love Ancient Egyptian culture.

message 6: by Stacia (the 2010 club) (last edited Mar 21, 2011 02:14PM) (new)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 270 comments *grin* I'm looking forward to 2 of 4 books that Wendy happens to be waiting for. I guess I'm going to need to buy Plague as well for my son. He's been wanting that one.

Your whole list looks new to me Elle, other than the betrayal of Maggie Blair. Is that one up on Netgalley? It looks so familiar.

The only YA HF that I know I'm looking forward to (so far at least, apparently this will be changing the more time I spend in the group) is :

Beautiful Days (Bright Young Things, #2) by Anna Godbersen

Oh, and I guess this sort of counts since it's Steampunk/Victorian era.

Clockwork Prince (Infernal Devices, #2) by Cassandra Clare

message 7: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (narcisse) Goliath (Leviathan, #3) by Scott Westerfeld !

message 8: by Stacia (the 2010 club) (last edited Mar 21, 2011 02:17PM) (new)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 270 comments *waits for someone to complain about the cover*

Or did you guys decide the third one was okay? I know most everyone hated Behemouth.

message 9: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (narcisse) hahaha yeah

message 10: by [deleted user] (new)

Maggie Blair is a NetGalley. I have it on my Kindle right now but just haven't got to it yet. When does the 2nd Infernal Devices come out? I should add that to the 2011 list.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 270 comments 12/26/11

message 12: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (narcisse) Her website says September 2011.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 270 comments That's what I originally thought myself. In fact, I have it listed on another group as Sept. Not sure why GR is showing December atm.

message 14: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (narcisse) Weird. Maybe GR pulled the info from a UK edition or something.

message 15: by Hillary (new)

Hillary (eledri) Last I saw her tweet was that she didn't have a def. date yet.

And the Goliath cover is just as ugly as the Behemoth cover!

message 16: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (narcisse) She said that it is bouncing back and forth between late August and early September. I'm gonna be pessimistic and go with September. :P

message 17: by [deleted user] (new)

I agree about the Goliath cover, but I like it more than I liked Behemoth's cover (even though they are both fugly). I am so excited for that one though, it's probably one of my most anticipated of the year!

message 18: by [deleted user] (new)

For all you Bloody Jack fans. *drool*

The Mark of the Golden Dragon Being an Account of the Further Adventures of Jacky Faber, Jewel of the East, Vexation of the West, and Pearl of the South China Sea (Bloody Jack, #9) by L.A. Meyer

message 19: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (narcisse) I totally forgot about the new Bloody Jack book!

message 20: by [deleted user] (last edited Mar 23, 2011 08:46PM) (new)

Me too. I had to add it to the 2011 list. I love how the title to those books are like a mile long.

message 21: by Emi (last edited Mar 23, 2011 09:07PM) (new)

Emi *rolls around on the floor, happy* I totally forgot about the new BJ book! I still have to read 7 and 8, but after reading 6 I needed a break.

I agree with you, Elle. I love how the titles of those books are like a gazillion words long. And I like how Jacky's title just keeps growing.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 270 comments She said BJ...first whore and now this.

Emi really is a pimp.

message 23: by [deleted user] (new)

Haha! Who corrupted our sweet little Emi? Somehow this has to be Jenny's fault.

message 24: by [deleted user] (new)

Ahhh...you guys make me giggle! You are awesome Emi! :)

message 25: by Emi (new)

Emi Haha! Is it sad that for once in my life I didn't have my mind in the gutter when I read the word "BJ"? I swear, it took me a moment to realize what you all were talking about. BJ=Bloody Jack...In retrospect I should have said JF (Jacky Faber). I guess I really am corrupted. xD

Yes, blame Jenny.

message 26: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (narcisse) WTF?! I'm an angel.

message 27: by Hillary (new)

Hillary (eledri) And I am the Queen of England. Angel. Pfft

message 30: by Veronica (new)

Veronica (veronica_mitchell) @Laraine: That book looks really good and I LOVE the cover!

message 31: by Laraine (new)

Laraine (lala26) Veronica wrote: "@Laraine: That book looks really good and I LOVE the cover!"

It does doesn't it, I hope it gets released on time. I looked and it's not on amazon yet.

message 32: by Veronica (last edited Mar 28, 2011 07:54AM) (new)

Veronica (veronica_mitchell) I know it is on barnes and noble and they show the release date for April 1st. I will probably run out and get it as soon as I can!

message 33: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) That book does look good! I just added it to my TBR list, lol.

message 34: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I just won The Land of Painted Caves (Earth's Children, #6) by Jean M. Auel in the Goodreads giveaway! Its my first time winning; I'm thrilled!

message 35: by Laraine (new)

Laraine (lala26) Congrats Wendy! I haven't won any first-reads yet! lol Hope that's a good one! :)

message 36: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) It's been one of my favorite series since I was a young teen, lol. Once I finish the new BDB book I'll reread this whole series in preparation for reading it.

message 37: by Emi (new)

Emi Congrats, Wendy! I hope you enjoy your book. :)

message 38: by Cass (new)

Cass (casswordsonpaper) These are just the 2011 books I have listed in my top-wishlist.

In The Shadow of the Lamp by Susanne Dunlap Beautiful Days (Bright Young Things, #2) by Anna Godbersen The Name of the Star (Shades of London, #1) by Maureen Johnson The Lost Crown A Novel of Romanov Russia by Sarah Miller Strings Attached by Judy Blundell Father of Lies by Ann Turner Wrapped by Jennifer Bradbury Other Words for Love by Lorraine Zago Rosenthal

A few overlaps, but reiterations never hurt.

P.S. I just discovered the "add book/author" feature!

message 39: by Jojobean (new)

Jojobean I am most anxious for The Wild Queen The Days and Nights of Mary Queen of Scots (Young Royals) by Carolyn Meyer Enshadowed (Nevermore, #2) by Kelly Creagh Bleeding Hearts (Drake Chronicles, #4) by Alyxandra Harvey

message 40: by Christine (new)

Christine | 37 comments I am on the edge of my seat EVERY DAY for, specifically, Out of Sight, Out of Time, and Nevermore: The Final Maximum Ride Adventure. And, a little bit lesser as this is a newer series for me,Insurgent. Wait, I can't forget about The Darkness Dwellers. This has taken a bit TOO long to come out.

message 41: by Nanci (new)

Nanci | 64 comments I love Chima's series The Seven Realms so I am not very patiently waiting for the The Crimson Crown. I am also enjoying the the Lorien Chronicles by Pittacus Lore and so looking forward to The Rise of Nine. I am eagerly awaiting Meg Cabot's next installment Underworld. I also hate that we have to wait so long to get the next installment of Riordan's Hero's of Olympus series, The Mark of Athena. I can't wait to read Out of Sight, Out of Time and looking forward to the next Heist Society book whenever Ally Carter gets it out. Of course, can't wait for
Clockwork Princess. So many books, so long to wait.
