Ebookwormy1 (ebookwormy) | 45 comments Dear all,

We are puttering through finishing Don Quixote, and I've extended to the end of March.

Recognizing that not all our club participated in Don Quixote, I don't want to hold up the group as a whole, so I suggest we start working on what the April 2011 selection will be.

To be determined are:
* What book?
* Who will lead?
* What will be the timeline?

I am unable to lead, and not partial to the timeline. As for the book, if we were to continue in a chronological manner through the great books as recommended by Susan Wise Bauer, the next selections for consideration would be:

Pilgrim's Progress, Bunyan (1679) 336 pages/ SWB #2
Gulliver's Travels, Swift (1726) 306 pages/ SWB #3
Pamela, Richardson (1740) 592 pages
Pride & Prejudice, Austin (1815) 320 pages/SWB #4

I have thrown in Pamela for consideration as it came up when discussing Don Quixote as an early novel. Form my own preference, I would be open to PILGRIM'S PROGRESS, although since I've already read it, I would slightly prefer PAMELA, a work I hadn't heard of before and have been intrigued by since it was mentioned.

Joanne (momof4) | 2 comments I'm having such a DIFFICULT time reading through Don Quixote! But I'll try to get it done and definitely needed the extension..

I'd like to try Pilgrim's Progress.. (I've read Gulliver's Travels and Pride & Prejudice.. Never Heard of Pamela, Richardson).

Ebookwormy1 (ebookwormy) | 45 comments I am unable to lead the next book, so i'd like to hear from more members and leave the final selection up to whoever steps forward to lead... after all, it needs to be something the leader is excited about.

A note on leading: if you don't have a lot of time, just type in the title and discussion questions to the search engine of your choice (google, etc). There is no need to rely completely upon yourself as all these classics have been thoroughly examined. Hopefully that tidbit will encourage someone to step forward!

Heather Laaman (hlizzy) Pilgrim's Progress is a great choice.

Ebookwormy1 (ebookwormy) | 45 comments Eve, if you are willing to lead, it think we can do whatever you'd like to do.

Jane Eyre is on the list. you can check the list by looking at the bookshelf.

Personally, I'd prefer Pilgrim's Progress, as I am interested in experiencing the development of the novel as an art form by doing some reading in chronological order.

Laura | 9 comments Hello, all - if you don't mind a newbie jumping in...I found a sparknotes guide to The Pilgrim's Progress online. I'd be happy to post their discussion questions to kick off the discussion. Thoughts?

Laura | 9 comments Do you happen to have the power to create a Pilgrim's Progress Folder in the discussion area?
