Dee (austhokie) What's a Pick-It-For-Me Challenge?
It's a group recommend a book thing - works just like a Secret Santa or Xmas Exchange, except that the gift is replaced by a book recommendation. The givee-giver pairings are assigned by a super-secret method with some randomness thrown in (depending on my creativity on any given day). So you recommend some books for whomever you get and somebody else will recommend books to you. After you're done reading your Pick-It-For-Me book, a short post with some feedback - a mini-review of sorts would be appreciated.

Please sign up by posting in this thread - Sign up period will remain open until March 31 at 8pm EST.

For this challenge, you need either HAVE YOUR PROFILE SET TO PUBLIC (preferable) or friend the person pickign for you. Keeping your bookshelves up to date will also help with them making recommendations.

You'll have until April 4th to make your recommendations. Everything will be done in this thread so check it often. Also, please be sure you really want/have the time to participate. Once I pair up people, it makes it difficult to re-pair when someone decides not to participate.

Sign-Up's

2. Shelley
3. Delicious Dee
4. Barbara

Picking Guidelines
You will recommend two books to your pickee, for this month, the focus is going to be on series'...so in light of them, recommend a continuation of a series that they have read and liked in the past, and then a new to them series (it could be a new series by a liked author, it could be a totally new series - you decide)

Lady Allison | 150 comments Hey Barbara!

I hope you don't mind I did two picks for each catagory with a total of four books, just to give you a bit more selection - we have a lot of the same books!

Continuing Series:
Tempt Me at Twilight by Lisa Kleypas - looks like you started this series but haven't finished it yet...I highly recommend it!!! I adore the Hathaways & they will always have a special place in my heart :)
Lover Unleashed by J.R. Ward - looks like you already own it & everything! Hop back on the BDB train this month & celebrate with the rest of us ;)

Tempt Me at Twilight (The Hathaways, #3) by Lisa Kleypas Lover Unleashed (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #9) by J.R. Ward

New Series:
Three Days to Dead by Kelly Meding - I actually read this for a MGR in this group sometime in 2009 I believe & I was completely blown away by this debut effort. It's fast paced, well plotted, & can't recommend this series enough!

Some Girls Bite by Chloe Neill - looks like you have the first two on your TBR already! This is a very well written, engaging series about a girl that gets turned against her will but learns to make it in the heirarchy of vamp life in Chicago. I absolutely LOVE this series!!! Top 5 in my favorite adult vamp series by far. There are three out so far & two more coming out this year. :)

Hope you find something you enjoy this month! If not, let me know & I'll pick again.

Three Days to Dead (Dreg City, #1) by Kelly Meding Some Girls Bite (Chicagoland Vampires, #1) by Chloe Neill

Shelley | 5 comments Hi Dee,

Here are your recommendations:

Continuing series

Acheron This was the best book in the series in my opinion and I really enjoyed most of them. Don't worry if you haven't read all of the others. This is a complete story by itself.

New Series

Angels' Blood. This was the first book I read by this author it blew me away it was so good.

I hope these work for you. You have them both on your TBR so enjoy.

message 13: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) hi Shelley - Acheron was on my read shelf, I just hadn't rated it...but Angel's blood looks good...I have it in the pile to locate

Dee (austhokie) Hi Lady Allison

Continuing Series:
It looks like you've read and enjoyed the Argeneau series in the past, so how about the next one in the series: The Rogue Hunter (Rogue Hunter, #1)

New Series:
Its only the first book out, but I read it earlier this year and really enjoyed it - Lust - where the unsealie aren't the bad guys

message 15: by Lady Allison (new)

Lady Allison | 150 comments Dee, thanks for the recs :) I think I sort of gave up on the Argeneau series, but if you think it's worth continuing, I'll give it a shot!

message 16: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) i don't know...i haven't read them...lol! I can do another series pick for you if you want

message 17: by Lady Allison (new)

Lady Allison | 150 comments LOL! If you wouldn't mind, sorry to make more work for you!

message 18: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) how about Archangel's Kiss

message 19: by Lady Allison (new)

Lady Allison | 150 comments Deal! I've even still got it on my library bookshelf :D

message 20: by Barbara ★ (new)

Barbara ★ Hi Shelley, I'm sorry this is so late. I have it checked to get emails when people comment in this thread but I don't remember getting one. Here goes...

I see you've started quite a few series but haven't gotten past book 2 or 3 on most of them. These are two of my favorites which you've also enjoyed:

Desire Unchained (Demonica, #2) by Larissa Ione Demonica series - Larissa Ione
This series just gets better and better with hotter demons and better conflicts.
Midnight Awakening (Midnight Breed, #3) by Lara Adrian Midnight Breeds series - Lara Adrian
Vampire warriors - is there anything sexier?

And a couple series you've shown interest in but haven't started yet which I absolutely loved.

Guilty Pleasures (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, #1) by Laurell K. Hamilton Anita Blake series - Laurell K. Hamilton
Totally smutty but Anita is a kickass heroine with a boatload of hottie boyfriends.
Tempt Me with Darkness (Doomsday Brethren) by Shayla Black Doomsday Brethren series - Shayla Black
This is similar to BDB but not as good because honestly could there really be anything as good as the BDB.

message 21: by Barbara ★ (new)

Barbara ★ Lady Allison,
I try to parcel out my BDB addiction and I just finished Lover Mine in March so I can't read Lover Unleashed just yet. I don't own Tempt Me at Twilight or Some Girls Bite so I can't read those this month either.

However I do own Three Days to Dead and can substitute it for another book in a challenge this month so that's the one I'm going to read.

Thanks for the great suggestions.

message 22: by Lady Allison (new)

Lady Allison | 150 comments I hope you enjoy it, Barbara. :)

message 23: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) hi Shelley - thanks for the recommendation of Angels' Blood - I actually finished it up a week ago and really enjoyed it...now I got to see what happens next!

message 24: by Barbara ★ (new)

Barbara ★ I finished Three Days to Dead today and thought it was ok but nothing to write home about. A ton of paranormal creatures and a not so well put together story with rather flat characters.

message 25: by Lady Allison (new)

Lady Allison | 150 comments Dee, I have to tell you that I did finally finish Archangel's Kiss a couple of days ago & LOVED it! I really enjoy the way Nalini Singh writes & while it was a bit repetitive (yes, I know he's beautiful) at times, the story was quite good & I wouldn't mind a sexy archangel of my own! ;)

message 26: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) lol! yay, i'm glad you liked it...i've only read the first one, but I was definately intrigued enough that i'll continue on the series...there is just something about her writing

message 27: by Lady Allison (new)

Lady Allison | 150 comments There certainly is! If you get to that point, I've got them all on epub if you're interested :)
