Lura (The Life of Serendipity) (xthelifeofserendipityx) | 112 comments I feel bad for doing this, but I would have to give Fallen two stars... I read it in a day or two and I don't know it was an interesting plot and everything, but it was just missing something that really grabbed me.

Luce Price is forced to attend this boarding school for troubled teens and she meets a boy that is very familiar to her. His name is Dainel Grigori and he wants absolutely noting to do with her. He is the only bright spot in the whole school where cell phones are forbidden, other students are screw-ups and your watched by security cameras with every move you make. He tries to make it perfectly clear that he wants noting to do with her, but she is drawn to him like a moth to a flame...

I didn't like the heroine at all. She was annoying and really full of herself. I can now see why Daniel wanted nothing to do with her...! I thought how it ended was just plain dumb and it left me really frustrated...! Now that's not meaning you won't like the ending, or anything that's just my opinion. I mean here I've read a decent sized book and I'm left with a lot of questions that never get answered! The ending had a lot of loose ends that don't get tied up at the end of the book... I'm not to sure that I'll get the second, but don't hold me to that. I just might get it, but when it's in paperback. Would I reccomend this book: yes and no, really it depends on who's reading it.

I have heard many mixed reviews about this book, I'm glad I haven't bought it yet. I had it in my cart a few times and decided last minute to just wait on it. There are many people stating they just never felt the "click" from the book, which is always important to the audience!

Yeah I don't think I'm going to get Torment...

Do you like books about Angels, or was this a random book for you? One that I read recently that was pretty good was Unearthly (Unearthly, #1) by Cynthia Hand . I enjoyed it.

Natshane | 85 comments That's exactly what I thought of Luce, she's needy (too offensive?) and reminded me of obsession.

I know right! I thought she was such an annoying little snot! I mean (view spoiler)

message 7: by Natshane (new)

Natshane | 85 comments Exactly! I don't like that she was obsessing over Daniel when obviously Cam is there. I mean, hello??

Lura (The Life of Serendipity) (xthelifeofserendipityx) | 112 comments I know but Cam (view spoiler) The end was confusing and left me with a lot of question, which I hate!

Mongrel, she was abandoned in a house with her mother and siblings, so when my uncle moved in he gave us one of the mongrels. And now she's a brat.

Read Hush Hush first, it's better.

Cool, I know right! Becca Fitzpatrick did an awesome job!

Cassie McCown (cassie629) | 713 comments I actually liked this book (series). I wonder sometimes if I am too forgiving...lol... Honestly, though, I read so many of this type of book at the same time, now that I think back they all run together!!! I have to reread descriptions to remember exactly which one told which story with which characters!!! :-)

Cambria (cambria409) | 3305 comments You know I agree with the review. Fallen was better than Torment. Torment was a disappointment (for me) I felt really frustrated and that the story did really go any where from beginning to end. I don't think I am going to read Passion. :(

Oh god there is going to be a third book...?

message 22: by Cambria (new)

Cambria (cambria409) | 3305 comments Yes. It is called Passion. If you look it up the cover comes up. It is due out in a few months I think...i can't remember the exact date.
Not sure if i wil read it though. It would be nice to know what is going on but I am afraid that it would be like the last one and not really give the reader any answers.

message 23: by Susan (new)

Susan (bookishrevelations) | 112 comments I have both the first and the second book in this trilogy and I think they have been very good. I would hate to know that all of the answers were given away in the second book, when there's a third on (Passion) on the way. Also, I think that instead of judging a book by what someone else has to say about it, you should read it for yourself and find out whether you'd like it or not. Don't just take someone else's word on it, because you never know it could be a book that you do enjoy up enjoying. If you don't want to purchase a copy of the book, then utilize your local library - that's pretty much what it is there for. :)

message 24: by [deleted user] (new)

I have been umming and ahhing about reading this book for a little while now. There seems to be a lot of hype going on for the last in the series but the reviews are really mixed and a lot of the criticism is focused on the main character being annoying/needy. Obviously that kind of thing is subjective but, as Suz suggests, I think I'd rather borrow it or pick it up when the price comes down, that way I won't be as disappointed. I love Hush, Hush and it's set the bar pretty high for any books with a similar theme.

It's hard for me to say which book I liked most between Fallen and Hush, Hush, because I think that both novels are really very well written and their respective series gets better with each book. So, I'm really anxious to finish them up, when I'm able to get my hands on a copy of both Passion and Silence. I think that, while Fallen may be similar to Hush, Hush in the theme of "fallen angel's" it's also unique in its own right, as well. So, that's why I suggested giving it a chance by either waiting until it's own sale, you can find a copy for cheap marked down or you can borrow from a friend or get on loan from a library. But, please, at least give it a try and don't just pass it by because it's in the same genre as Hush, Hush.

Hi Lura - I finally bit the bullet and read Fallen. I have to say, I totally agree with your review - you nailed it; the two main problems were Luce and the multitude of unanswered questions at the end.

I don't know that I'd agree that she nailed it with the review at all, because this is a series of books and since there is a third book (Passion) that is out, I would be mighty frustrated if there weren't still unanswered questions towards the end of Fallen and I don't think that Luce was a problem at all. But, ya know, each to their own I guess. C'est la vie.

Kayleigh {K-Books} (kayley_12) if you wanna read a really good angel book Angel (Angel Trilogy, #1) by L.A. Weatherly is my favourite

Maybe I should qualify my statement - Lura nailed her review from my perspective. I appreciate you enjoyed it - as you say, each to their own.

I've read Angel - I did enjoy it, it was a good premise and action-packed. I thought Alex was a great character. There's meant to be a sequel isn't there? I don't know if it's come out yet.

Kayleigh {K-Books} (kayley_12) yes
its my fave angel book as i think it's a totally original idea and Alex is one of my top fictional bfs i love him lol

the second one Angel Fire (Angel Trilogy, #2) by L.A. Weatherly is due out October in the UK and December in the US

Thanks - I can add that to my 'to-read' list now. :)

Excellent. I'm not sure about the cover-art though, are you? Not how I picture the main characters at all.

Kayleigh {K-Books} (kayley_12) i know i don't like the ppl on the cover.
i saw it and i was like that's not alex at all lol

for the first book i prefer the US cover
Angel Burn (Angel Trilogy, #1) by L.A. Weatherly
but confused why does one cover have a girl with brown hair and one with blonde i think that's stupid lol

message 40: by [deleted user] (new)

"why does one cover have a girl with brown hair and one with blonde i think that's stupid lol"

Oh - that's much better. Willow is naturally blond in the book so it makes more sense too - I wonder why the UK one is so lame! Good job I go more on reviews that covers, lol.

Kayleigh {K-Books} (kayley_12) lol i know
i still think the UK covers r pretty. i love the design of them just not the models lol

And maybe I should qualify my statement above as well, I don't think that she did nail it, from my perspective. My whole point is, reader's should at least give the rest of the books in the series a chance to actually answer those questions that they may find at the end of Fallen because there are two more books in the series and it would be frustrating if, as a reader, all of the answers were found in the first book in the series. There would be no need for a series to begin with.

Yeah, it's definitely the models. They are a little creepy.

Kayleigh {K-Books} (kayley_12) they r. have u seen the girl on the first one she looks mentally unstable like she's gonna murder someone lol

I see what you're saying about leaving things unanswered to draw a reader on to the next book in the series but, to me, it didn't feel so much like a cliff-hanger, more like nothing that had just happened had been put into context.

I'm usually drawn to read the second book in a series because I want to see what will happen next, rather than find out why the events of the first book happened at all. Unfortunately I didn't enjoy Fallen enough to make me want to read the next book.
