Carey (thetometraveller) | 109 comments Anyone interested in reading The Raj Quartet by Paul Scott? The first one is The Jewel in the Crown. Set in British India The Jewel in the Crown (The Raj Quartet, #1) by Paul Scott

Marg (margreads) | 128 comments Sounds fascinating, but not sure I can get them.

I've wanted to read them for ages, but I am buried at the moment. I'll poke around my pile and see what else is there qualifying as saga though.

Carey (thetometraveller) | 109 comments Michele and I have a big ol list going but I can't remember what the heck is on it. Maybe The Swan series by Celeste De Blasis or something by Eugenia Price?

I've read the Swan series and highly recommend them. I'd be happy to jump in on the discussions if you decide to do so. Eugenia Price is a thought, but I did read the Savannah book sometime last year.

Wish Lily Cigar hadn't become so damn HTF, all the cheap copies are gone from the online sellers. That is one of the best I've read in a long time.

De Blasis' The Proud Breed is pretty good too.

Marg (margreads) | 128 comments Completely off topic, but have you seen the Land of Painted Caves drinking game Misfit?

No, I've missed that Marg. What are the rules?

message 9: by Marg (new)

Marg (margreads) | 128 comments I'll find the post.

Lol, you are going to need it if you plan on reading this. After you're done go and read the reviews and review comments at Amazon US and UK. Quite a show.

BTW, you did see the links I've posted to Jack's video reviews of the first five haven't you? http://www.youtube.com/user/jacktaylo...

message 12: by Marg (new)

Marg (margreads) | 128 comments I think I had seen the link but not got to watching them yet. Will watch it in the morning.

I will read it, because I can't read the first 5 books and not read the last one.

I know, it's hard not to finish off a series. I'll keep quiet until you get started and are ready to chat.

Carey (thetometraveller) | 109 comments Oh dear, and I was looking forward to The Land of the Painted Caves. LOL!

How about this for a group read saga...Sacajawea by Anna Lee Waldo?

Carey, library only.

I've read Sacajawea but it was years ago. Here's one I found on a UBS spree that sounds interesting, A Roaring in the Wind. Montana setting.

Carey (thetometraveller) | 109 comments Well they sent it to me for free but who is going to supply the liquor, I'd like to know?

I can recommend this quartet. Really good reads. I liked 3 of the 4 books best and I'm always up to reading them again.

I do want to read them, but I am so buried in commitments right now. Plus there's a new Chadwick coming soon and everything will get swept under the table when that lands :p

message 19: by Marg (new)

Marg (margreads) | 128 comments I would like to read them at some stage too. Maybe we could schedule for June or something.

message 20: by Carey (new)

Carey (thetometraveller) | 109 comments June would be good for me...

message 21: by [deleted user] (new)

June is good....Carey and I have the next Flashman book to read for June, but we should be able to at least fit book 1 of the quartet in, right?

message 22: by Carey (new)

Carey (thetometraveller) | 109 comments I'm hoping to start june with clean slate, so yes! :)

message 23: by CLM (new)

CLM | 2 comments We should all read the new Chadwick together! I like the Raj Quarter but they are slow going (not sure which box mine are in either).

A clean slate??? How on earth is this even possible???? Please, let me in on the secret!

Excellent idea, but I can promise you there is no way I will put off a new Chadwick waiting for the rest of you. The second I see it land it will be gobbled up.

That is one advantage with Mr. Kindle. You can have a pile of books on it, but you can't see them.

That's a positive and a negative for me, LOL. No, I don't feel as guilty when I can't see the "piles" of books on the Kindle, but on the other hand I've been known to "lose" a book buried somewhere inside that Kindle....forget it's even there for a year or better. Ha.
