What Are You Reading Now?
Currently, I'm reading a book called Soul of the Fire by Terry Goodkind. It is the 5th book in the Sword of Truth series.

I am now reading Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan. It's the first in the Percy Jackson & The Olympians series. It's YA fiction.
I have friends who do a summer camp based on these books so I've been interested in finding out what that camp is all about.

I am also reading some Sherlock Holmes and I'm still trying to get through Anna Karenina.

The Scent of Rain and Lightning
A Girl Named Zippy
Simple Screts
The Catcher in the Rye
What's Anna Karenina about?(I know I could search for the GR's description, but from the mouth of one that's reading it is much better)

It's written in eight parts so it's a pretty in depth web of adultery and deceit in 19th century Russia. Anna refuses to be discreet and you can imagine how that goes!

Oh I loved A Girl Named Zippy! So cute and heartwarming! I also really loved The Catcher in the Rye!

I stayed up until 1am last night reading The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan. It's a YA fiction series but it's party action and part Mythology lesson. I really liked it and am about to run to Half Price Books to see if I can find the others in the series. :-)

Ooops, so back to what I am reading:
VERY VALENTINE: My boyfriend, Tony, gave me a signed first edition of this book recently. Such a sweety! I'm behind in the "2011 book challenge" (i kinda started late. I didn't even know I was going to do a challenge till recently) and he's helping and cheering me along. I'm not sure if it's because he knows I love to read or because it keeps me quiet. Lol. Either way I love him.
BUNNICULA: My son is on book 5 of this series, and won't stop talking about it. So thought I'd read them too so we can talk about them together.
BLUE: This one I am reading on Kindle. I believe this one was free. It is pretty good so far, however it is both fantasy and YA. I have to be in the mood for this type of fantasy.
THE LOST SYMBOL: I have read every book written by Dan Brown, and have enjoyed them greatly. But this one doesn't even feel like a Dan Brown book. The excitement, and nervous anticipation i've felt while devouring his previous books, is nowhere to be found. My eyes literally glaze over from Brown's attempt to sound scholarly about the minutest details of the most boring, and inexplicable 'scientific' subjects. But I keep trudging along.
KILLING YOURSELF to LIVE: 85% of a TRUE STORY: This one I keep at work for the days when the computers go down. They don't go down enough.
Lady Day wrote: "I've heard and read nothing but good things about the Lightning Thief Series and its author. Do you know if anyone else has started the book for this month?"
You should check them out. They are quick and fun.
I just bought the book for this month from amazon last night. Now I just have to wait to get it. :-)

Haha! I remember the Bunnicula books. So fun!!
I just can't read several books at once. I wish I could!
I got a Nook for Thanksmas (got it as a Christmas gift at Thanksgiving) and I do the same thing with price comparison. Sometimes if I want a book RIGHT NOW I'll go to the nook. But our book this month was $12 on the Nook, didn't find it at 1/2 price books but I could order it from amazon (with shipping) for a little under $9. It's not much of a savings, but at least I'll have the physical book and still save a bit. For a book lover like me, those few dollars add up over time!

Ill wind looks good Andrea! Let me know how it turns out and I'll keep you informed about A Thousand....

Sorry for the oversight in your reply more than a month ago.Anna Karenina is also Maranda's book nemesis, if memory serves me correctly. The story line sounds like one that would hold your attention.Anna's refusal to be decrete about her indiscretions could certain be problematic on soooo many levels. Particularly for that time period. Have you finished it yet?

An intriguing and fascinating book on how countries vie against each other to be top dog on the world stage. Spies, double agents, love triangles -- it’s all in a day’s work for super spy Alexey! In today’s interconnected world, this book gives an interesting perspective on how much competition goes on behind the scenes with ambitions and stakes running high. Hearts are broken and for some power is gained.
Illuminating book on the espionage sphere. Lots of mind games involved. Great book with high drama which makes for a perfect summer read!

And I loved, loved, loved it!
It's funny and relevant and sexy and poignant and I'm so glad I finally read it. It was given to me the other day by a dear friend who, in her own unique way, was wishing me luck with my newest adventures in fertility treatments. The copy I have is a 10th anniversary edition with a special intro written by Weiner; in it she discusses the struggles she had in getting it published, the similarities between the book and her own life, and the notable cultural changes that have taken place in the ten years since it was first published - cell phones, texting, email, etc.
It's not a heavy-duty-gonna-change-your-life-forever kind of book....but it should be. It has a strong message for women about love and acceptance and family and strength.
If you haven't read it, you should.

Wow!! It's crazy that it's been so long since that book was published! And how so much has changed since then. I will definitely have to give this one a try. I've heard it was really cute for years now.

I just started a book called I Am Number Four by Pitticus Lore. I saw the movie and have been interested in reading the book ever since then. :-)

I'm reading that too (among other things). I can't say that I'm impressed so far. The character development leaves a lot to be desired in my opinion. I've really been left wanting more. I keep reading, hoping that it will get better and some of my questions will be answered but so far they haven't. I'm trying to keep an open mind!

Did you watch the movie?? I have found that when I watch the movie before reading the book, the book just helps me to fill in all the gaps. I am a little over halfway done with the book and am liking it better than in the beginning. Though I'm ready to be done with it so I can move on. LOL!

Wading through my LT list.
I just finished The Imperfectionists last night and am now moving on to Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman.

Let me know how it goes! Read American Gods too! It is one of the few books I've read that has completely transported me to that world....awesome!
