Is there more life in 19C India after The Far Pavilions? discussion

Hi! I don't know if anyone checks this group... but I figured it's the best place to ask about what I want. I'm looking for a good nonfiction book (or several) about India under the British Empire. I'll take anything from the minutiae of everyday life to a sweeping history. It doesn't have to be all about that era, either--a longer history of India would be great, as my knowledge of India is sorely lacking.
