TheGeekyBlogger ***This topic is only for discussion of chapters 1-8. No spoilers for events further in the book please, and if you've not completed all eight chapters, there will be spoilers here!***

TheGeekyBlogger End of Chapter 8 is the following:

"And what did you do to him?"

I gave Finn a flat look.

"What I you do best," he murmured. "Thank you for that, Gin."

I shrugged. "Fletcher was like a father to me. It was the least I could do. I only wish I'd had more time with the bastard."

More time to slash and wound and kill--more time to act and less time to think about what I'd lost tonight.

And how much it fucking hurt.

TheGeekyBlogger My general thoughts on the beginning of the book:

I thought it was a very strong beginning that pretty much hooked me from the start. It had a good mix of action, intro of characters, and glimpse into the world. Pretty much what I want when a book series starts! Excellent!

Stephine (paranormalhaven) I agree Felicia, this book had a really strong beginning. Normally when I start a new series, it takes me a while to get into it but I didn't want to put this one down as soon as I started it.

TheGeekyBlogger The audio was amazing! I kept wanting it to go faster but then like---nope I don't want it to end :) LOL

Love when the beginning of the book does that to me!

PS. I am back from vacation and will post the second discussion thread tonight. It is hard to get back into the swing of things after a few days off LOL

Felicia- your doing this one on Audio? I really need to get into Audio.

Yes, the beginning is very strong. It's wonderful when you want the story to hurry up and slow down at the same time. Almost like eating your favorite foods. It's gone to fast but it doesnt stip you from trying to savor it!! =)

TheGeekyBlogger Yep! I listened to all 3 on audio this month--the narrator was excellent!

TheGeekyBlogger I put all of my on my MP3 player so it is with me wherever I go :)

=) Good thinking Felicia.

I'm curious what does everyone think of the spider rune for Gin? How about her nickname Gin!?

message 11: by TheGeekyBlogger (new)

TheGeekyBlogger I think Gin is perfect for a nickname because it is cold, smooth, yet warm inside. I am probably over thinking that but it really does fit!

I think she is very patient but I guess I never really thought of Spiders as patient. That being said, after some googling, they are evidently one of the most patient animals on the planet. In that aspect, then it fits.

My favorite quote from this section is the part where i can see the cover image clearL

Page 68-69: "Hidden in the shadows, I stared at the front door of the Pork Pit. The neon pig glowed in the dark night, its pink lights taking on a blood-red tinge."

Terri (terrilovescrows) | 4 comments She is so strong - I love it

TheGeekyBlogger She is very strong and capable! I think that is what I love most about Gin--she is the "alpha" in the story but still manages to have all those worries us women have. She just has a really good outlet for frustration LOL
