message 3: by Janice (new)

Janice (jamasc) How many songs do we need - as many as the CD will hold? Stupid question, I know.

message 4: by Janice (new)

Janice (jamasc) Ok, count me in. I'd like to give it a try.

message 6: by Janice (new)

Janice (jamasc) Thanks Barb

This should be fun. Do people ever inadvertently select the same song?
Do we put labels on the CD's?
How do we include liner notes, if we decide to do them?
Do we put the CD's in jewel cases or are CD envelopes better for mailing?

Questions, questions, questions.... I didn't realize I had so many until I started typing.

message 7: by Jim (new)

Jim | 6484 comments It is especially important in the spring Janice, as the dog sleds that carry the Canadian mail get stuck in the mud quite regularly :-)

Sarah | 13814 comments Yay! I LOVE common theme shebangs! It's been ages since the last one.

Hell to the Yes! Count me in.

message 12: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments So "Who Wrote The Book of Love?" is a nonstarter?

Great theme idea, Misha.

I can try!

message 16: by Janice (new)

Janice (jamasc) Ok! This should be fun. I'd better get at it since Zeus is a one-dog sled team and there is a lot of mud these days. In fact, my once blonde Malamute is temporarilty black from the shoulders down.

message 17: by Phoenix (new)

Phoenix (phoenixapb) | 1619 comments I compared books with all of you, to see if I could find some common ground in this shebang. I've come to the conclusion...that I read a lot of wierd stuff, and you guys don't. :(
But I'm going to forge ahead with my idea anyway. :)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments Speed it up, people. I already finished mine.

*snort* And I didn't even mean to make it dirty. :)

message 22: by janine (new)

janine | 7709 comments i think i'm just going to do a simple songs-mentioning books/reading/writing/with great use of words-mix.

Sally (mrsnolte) | 17373 comments Mod
What is Jackie doing?

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments I will be selecting songs that fall into the genre of Science Fiction, Sally.

Unless I change my mind and go with Westerns, instead. That could be fun!

message 25: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments Will iTunes let me do ten of the same disc? Two shebangs ago it gave me trouble, but the last one it didn't.

message 26: by [deleted user] (new)

Sarah, if you upgrade iTunes to a newer version, you should have the ability to burn an unlimited amount of discs for a single playlist. That's how I burn my Shebangs.

message 27: by Brittomart (new)

Brittomart What version? It only lets me burn 7.

message 28: by [deleted user] (new)

Latest version, 10.whatever.whatever. And it doesn't matter if you've bought the content from iTunes, or uploaded songs from your own library.

I have to use the latest and greatest version because my iPhone is not backwards-compatible with earlier versions.

I've been listening to your bar shebang a lot lately Gus.

message 30: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments I'll try that, Gus. Or maybe I did already and that's why the last one went smoothly. Thanks!

Me too! I've been practically BEGGING for one!! And yet, I'm not sure I'm ready so soon...

Is there room for me if I decide to get in on this one?

message 32: by Phoenix (new)

Phoenix (phoenixapb) | 1619 comments Hey, Smetch, you can have my spot for this one. We have so much home improvement crap that has to get done in the next two months I'm just not going to have the time for this one. :( I'll jump in on the next one though.

smetchie | 4034 comments RandomAnthony wrote: "Speed it up, people. I already finished mine."

message 34: by smetchie (new)

smetchie | 4034 comments I'm contemplating. I have to listen to some music and see if I can get inspired.

message 35: by smetchie (new)

smetchie | 4034 comments And when is that again?

message 36: by smetchie (new)

smetchie | 4034 comments Oh I'll know in a day or so.

Janice (jamasc) "Fresh Meat" question: How do you burn CD's with a specific song order using iTunes? Is it even possible? Or do I need to use some other software?

message 43: by Janice (new)

Janice (jamasc) I'm a little frustrated with iTunes right now. Whenever I go to add something to my library, it duplicates everything in my library so that I have 2 copies of everything. GRRRR! But I love everything else of mine that starts with i.

Barb do you use iTunes to make your music cd's?

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments Janice wrote: ""Fresh Meat" question: How do you burn CD's with a specific song order using iTunes? Is it even possible? Or do I need to use some other software?"

Sure, Janice! Just make a new playlist, put your songs in it in the order you want (click on the number column heading to tell iTunes you want it in number order, not alphabetical by song title or something), and then burn the playlist to a blank CD.

message 45: by Janice (new)

Janice (jamasc) Misha wrote: "As far as the duplication issue, it should be asking you when you import something that's already in your library whether you want to replace the song. .."

All I recall is it asking if I want to import the songs into my library. I'll pay closer attention to the message next time it pops up.

Thanks for the help. I'll have to do a new playlist then because I didn't add them to the playlist in the correct order.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments Janice, you should be able to reorder the songs in your playlist to whatever order you want. Just click and drag.

message 47: by janine (new)

janine | 7709 comments i hope it survives.

message 48: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments That does seem rather aggressive, Barb, between the nailing and the attacking.

message 49: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments Ooh. Tricky. Now she's passive-aggressive.

message 50: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments Now she's making shadow puppets.
