Hi! I just want everyone to know that I started in a middle. The creators of this group left and since I was just the first member to join the group and a friend of the moderators I thought of recovering it.

The current group readings were not in my schedule and I feel two readings is such a huge task for a smaller group. I created a poll so you can decide on how frequently you want to join in for a group read. I know there are so many active groups at Goodreads and we all have personal obligations outside this as well. The point is we are all busy people loaded with work.

The two novels' schedules will be changed. Lolita will go all the way till May 20th. Those who like to join can do so. I'll be starting to read it on May 1st. Sorry about the inconvenience, I hope you all understand my situation.

If War and Peace reading has currently paused we can add it to the next group reading. That's a novel I've been wanting to read as well.

Short story readings will be decided later depending on the members' participation. Thanks :)

toria (vikz writes) (victoriavikzwrites) Welcome as moderator and thanks for taking on this work.

Elizabeth (Alaska) Again, thanks for pointing me to this group, Amalie.

Now, about the group reads.

I see that your current read is broken into several threads by groups of chapters. Do you anticipate doing the same for next month's Dead Souls? I ask simply because I'm feeling a bit overloaded just now, but I really want to read this book and I will not be able to finish before the discussion starts. But I'm pretty sure I could get started, and be able to finish before the end of August.

Anyway, I guess my real question is whether it is normal here for people to have finished the book before the discussion starts, or whether simply to have started it, and read concurrently with the discussion?

You are welcome! :)

Elizabeth you can do either. Some, including myself usually read during the discussion. It's more fun! There are some who finish the book prior to reading...so, it's up to you but don't worry about spoilers, the readers will be warned.

And yes, the discussions will be divided into threads. With Dead Souls, may be only two threads.
