Paula (paulathomson) Awesome.

I thought I was the only adult around who likes reading these types of books. I just love the easy reading of them. I am really happy to find a group of other 'mature' people who enjoy this also!

I have been a member of goodreads for some time, but this is my first post.

Look forward to 'chatting' with you all. :)

Amy Welcome Paula. I thought the same thing when I found this group. I've enjoyed it so much!

Gale Minchew (galeminchew) Hi Paula, welcome to the group. I never realized how many adults were interested in YA either. I don't get a chance to post a lot, but I love reading about all the challenges! The people in this group are amazing...

Terry (Ter05 TwiMoms/ MundieMoms) (ter05) | 70 comments I had no idea YA books even existed until I read Twilight and that was in 2007. I ordered the first one from Amazon and then went to the bookstore to get New Moon, looked through the novels and then the fantasy section and finally had to ask someone. I was shocked when she told me it was in the teen section. And now it is the first section I head to. I still read other things, but I read a lot of YA.

Gale Minchew (galeminchew) Lol, Terry! The first time I went to the teen section at Books A Million I was surprised, as well! I don't remember a teen section when I was younger...you either went to the adult section or the children's section, the latter of which housed the teen books, too.

Amy I used to read a lot of sci fi and romance novels. But once I started reading YA, that's all I want to read.

Amy For me, YA books are an escape. They are fun, easy to read and aren't boring.

I had read all of the Harry Potter books and loved them but didn't go back to the YA section until I accidentially received a copy of Twilight instead of another book I had ordered. I read it and now I am a YA addict! I got my best friend hooked too. Being thirty-something and standing in the YA section with a bunch of teen girls is kind of cool.

I don't remember having so many choices when I was a teen and I wasn't into Sweet Valley High. I got Harry Potter to read to my son when he was 5 and I was hooked and those books got him interested in reading. Now he recommends books to me.
