B&N Nook Color & Tablet Users discussion

Downloaded the new update and went to app store. I was surprised to find Goodreads :)

I wasn't surprised to find it, but I was disappointed in how limited it was! Very few of the apps are free though, and goodreads is one of the free ones. So I've gotta give them credit for that!

The only thing I wanted was a way to quote text directly from my ebook to goodreads, and they didn't make that available for me.

That would be great. Maybe you should let GR know so they update it :)

How would I go about letting them know? I would love to share my input!

nothing is free anymore. so i limit my self to 1 book a month. So at the moment i am reading a lot of free books. or cheap books under $5

Do you buy them off of BN?

I'm glad they came out with the Goodreads App, even if it may be limited right now. I would've probably tried to get a couple of people together to try to cobble one up ourselves. An app like this totally fits on this little machine.

Did anyone notice the "My Books" button doesn't work anymore with the goodreads app? It just reboots the main page. It seems from reading comments on Bn.com that it's been an issue for a few weeks now.

I haven't used it in a while. It needs some work.

I did too..and now it crashed the app entirely. It won't update and now I can't even use the app.

I also tried installing and no luck. I really hope they fix this app soon.

I just use the browser and ignore the app...a lot less hassle.

I've had the same issues everyone mentioned. App crashed when using "my books" button then tried to reinstall and got an error message that said I needed to archive and unarchive the app. Did that and it still won't work. Called tech support yesterday and after walking me through all the steps I'd already done, the tech told me that the app developer hasn't finished the update and the issue would resolve once the app update is complete with the developer. Sounds like bunk to me but we'll see in next few days/weeks. Of course no word on when the update will be completed. :-(

The lack of functionality on some of the Nook Apps is ridiculous. I'm not going to update my GoodReads until I know the issues are fixed. I had to call tech support 3 times and visit the store before someone told me Nook Friends only works between like devices (ie only Nook Color can be friends with Nook Color.) Their excuse was "well, it's beta". Don't release an application unless it works. Blaming it on beta just makes them look bad.

So is anyone still having problems with the GR app?
I can't remember when, but I think they re-released the app a little while ago. I ended up downloading it again (which left two copies of the app on the NC) but the new copy hasn't crashed for me when selecting "My Books" like it used to.

Nope..with the new download it's been working perfectly for me :)

How do you reinstall?

It was a bit weird. When I went back to the app store, it allowed me to "buy" it again. Which is how I ended up with two copies. Did anyone else get it differently?

new app is much better looks really good making comment from the app on my nook.....
I archived the first one then I downloaded this one as if I never downloaded the other

Anyone else having problems with the Goodreads app on their Nook Color after the recent Nook update to version 1.4.1? I get the Goodreads splash screen and then it slides into a solid black screen and sits there indefinitely.

Turns out there was an update available for the Goodreads app and after installing it, the app works as it's supposed to.
