Sara Migers | 1 comments Archbishop Mieczysław Mokrzycki, the Pope’s second personal secretary, speaks about some unknown facts about the life of the Holy Father in an interview with Brygida Grysiak, a journalist of the TVN24 Television. He speaks about an ordinary day of John Paul II in the Vatican, about what was making him emotional and what was making him laugh, about his conversations with important politicians, about to whom he confided and what he read, about what he really liked to sing and who he invited for holidays, about how he was celebrating the New Year’s Eve and why he liked Tuesdays…

Salvaged by Stefne Miller
'My body was being torn apart, and my stomach felt as if it exploded. The pain was excruciating, and I was aware that I was dying... 'Mom?' My vision was murky, but I could see her face. It was bloody, and her eyes were large and full of fear. Her voice calmed. 'Get out of the car, Attie.' Her words sounded crisp and clear. I looked into the backseat in search of Melody and found her lying covered in blood in a twisted heap on the floor. I turned my attention back to my mother and out of the corner of my eye saw fire. 'Get out, Attie!' 'Mom?' Everything went dark.' Attie Reed should have died in the wreck that stole the lives of her mother and best friend. But her life was spared. Why? When Attie moves to Oklahoma to stay with the Bennetts for the summer, she hopes she has left her nightmares behind. But her battle is far from over, and Riley Bennett steps forward to help her fight the nighttime monsters. As the battle wears on, Riley begins fighting monsters of his own: his feelings for Attie. And Attie realizes she must begin to face the monsters of the night herself if she wants to conquer them for good. Can Attie's life be Salvaged? Salvaged by Stefne Miller

so glad you asked!! i LOVE JRR Tolkien and CS Lewis! they provide fun, clean fantasy, which is harder and harder to find it seems. i also ADORE the Left Behind series! the end times have always had a certain hold on me, though recently i've decided to stick to growing my relationship first, then diving in!

S.C. (savagesc) | 6 comments My all time favourite christian book is THE SHACK!! It is a must read for ALL christians and is completely enlightining for non-christians! This book answered so many quetstions and things I was unsure about from Jesus' teachings and christianity period. I was amazed at everything explained in this book. All of it was very straight forward and now I have so many things I am glad I finally understand. *NOTE* this book is fiction but reads like it is a true story. Either way, it is incredible!

S.C. (savagesc) | 6 comments Other great christian books I have read are: THE LAST SIN EATER, by Francine Rivers, (FICTION) 23 MINUTES IN HELL,by Bill Wiese,(TRUE STORY) and HEAVEN IS FOR REAL, by Todd Burpo (TRUE STORY) All of these books are very incredible an inspiring for Christian. I would recomend them to all Christians and Non- christians because these books (especially 23 minutes in hell) are very inspiring towards everyone that GOd is real!

Lol, another good one that I liked was Divergent by Veronica Roth. I loved how she was able to put her faith into the book and it still won the Goodreads 2011 award!

Nicole Anyone interested in starting a thread on what Christian books we are reading and our thoughts?

message 28: by Emily (new)

Emily (lafillebrigitte) | 184 comments Mod
Yeah, I think that would work a little better for keeping the thread active. I'll do that right now

message 29: by Emily (new)

Emily (lafillebrigitte) | 184 comments Mod
Actually, why don't I just rename this thread?

message 30: by Nicole (last edited Aug 09, 2012 05:30PM) (new)

Nicole Great...but I noticed you didn't rename the thread, so did you put it elsewhere?

Nicole So I just finished Crazy Love: Overwhelmed by a Relentless God by Francis Chan very good. I gave it 4 stars.

About to start Knowing God by J.I. Packer

Emily (lafillebrigitte) | 184 comments Mod
I'm not reading a Christian book, so I guess I'll just keep my mouth shut for a while!

message 36: by Nicole (new)

Nicole Finished Knowing God by J.I. Packer Very good book. I gave it 4 stars. Packer goes down deep to the heart of Christianity and what it means to live knowing the Lord. Its quite lengthy, so it is not a book that you will breeze through. It is repetitious at times, but I think it was necessary to drive home the points the author was trying to make. I had many revelations throughout. Packer is effective in pointing out how much God wants to have a close and continual relationship with His people. If you are wanting to go deeper in your walk with the Lord, add this to your to read pile.

When God Writes Your Love Story: The Ultimate Approach to Guy/Girl Relationships
When God Writes Your Love Story is the most useful book I've ever read! Every teen and twenty-something should read this book. I'm currently rereading it :)

Hehehe, I'm not sure if the book I'm reading is Christian or not right now. It mentions God a lot, but I think the reference is more to a fictional character than the God we know and love. :D

That was a realllllyy good book! It sets some practical guidelines for Christian young women. I just started and am now halfway through a Ted Dekker thriller called Kiss. It's a little slow to start, but picks up really fast and is really suspenseful!

Emil Bredahl (emilbredahl) | 1 comments Just finished "Greater" by Steven Furtick

I finished Kiss and am now at the climax of Immanuel's Veins, another Dekker. It's pretty good but not for the faint of heart (sadly I'm very faint of heart)

message 43: by Tony (new)

Tony denBok (tdbok) | 1 comments Unspeakable: Facing Up to the Challenge of Evil by Os Guinness. Os is a brilliant writer, using his own experiences as well as history and Scripture to help to make sense of the problem of evil in our world. It's tough to read in some places, but well worth the effort.

message 45: by Nicole (new)

Nicole I finished Loving God with All Your Mind by Elizabeth George. Although the author presented solid truth, it was very repetitive through the whole thing. I did receieve from it though. The author really drove home 2 ideas to me: Don't worry about tomorrow and God is sovereign over everything that happens to us-good or bad.
