Three years after The Final Problem- And guess what? Sherlock Holmes isn't really dead! He just faked his death and traveled around the world diisguised as a traveler named Sigerson doing who knows what.

message 2: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah. I cried when I learned he wasn't actually dead. And I cried at the begining of The Final Problem because Watson made it sound a lot like Sherlock was going to die.

But the ending of the Final Problem was so... Anti climatic. Watson wasn't even there when it happened!

I know! Dumb sick woman.

What's your favorite adventure?

The Empty House. Wow, it seems like all my favoritest are at the beginnings of the novels! I just like it so much because HOLMES ISN'T DEAD!!! Yay!
"I seem to have shocked you by my unnessicarily dramatic reappearance."
That was my favorite line!

message 8: by [deleted user] (new)

:P I like how Watson ran into him without him knowing who he was. That was when I realized it was Holmes.

message 9: by [deleted user] (new)

i'm sad. Everyone left me! :'(

Sorry... practicin' my guitar!
Anyway...
Yeah, it was really easy to figure out that the old book seller was Holmes. But it was really funny how he looked like a complete stranger but still followed Watson into his house!

message 11: by [deleted user] (new)

:P Yeah. I think its funny how Watson was fooled even after he found his house.

I really don't like to think of Watson as an idiot, but sometimes... gosh. How could he have not known that man was Holmes?!

message 13: by [deleted user] (new)

I know! And I'm reading the Hound of the Baskervilles. How could Watson think Holmes would miss the cab number?!?! REALLY!!!

message 14: by Sammy, Not a psycopath, just a high functioning sociopath. (new)

Sammy (ireneadler) | 143 comments Mod
Actually, that is one I haven't read.
In the Empty House when Holmes came back, and he was disguised and followed Watson into his house, that should have been a clue that he was Holmes. At least he didn't have to be all surprised! Sherlock would do that to him all the time before he "died". But no. He fainted.

message 15: by [deleted user] (new)

I know!!!! >:( Sometimes Watson just makes me mad.

He's much less dopey in all the Holmes movies and TV shows I've seen :)

No off topic-ness!

message 21: by [deleted user] (new)

To late.

I like how he became so popular after his "sudden appearance". It's like everyone randomly heard he was back and they all had something to tell them

message 22: by Sammy, Not a psycopath, just a high functioning sociopath. (new)

Sammy (ireneadler) | 143 comments Mod
Yeah, I didn't get that. I thought he was trying to keep a low profile as to keep away from Moriarty's henchmen. After all, he was even being chased by snipers when he first came back!

message 23: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah, but I think that after he got that one guy, it didn't matter so much

message 24: by Sammy, Not a psycopath, just a high functioning sociopath. (new)

Sammy (ireneadler) | 143 comments Mod
But that still doesn't explain how everyone suddenly heard about him!

message 25: by [deleted user] (new)

Watson published his return. And there were the police and Lestrade. Rumours spread quickly too you know.

Hey, did you know that 25% of Americans think Sherlock Holmes was a real person?

message 28: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm half and half. He sounds so real. Was he?

message 29: by Sammy, Not a psycopath, just a high functioning sociopath. (new)

Sammy (ireneadler) | 143 comments Mod
Nope. But his character was based on a professor at the university Arthur Consn Doyle went to. His name was Dr. Joseph A. Bell and he could deduce things like Sherlock Holmes.

message 30: by [deleted user] (new)

Awesome. My 1 goal in life is to figure out a crime like him

That would be so cool!

message 32: by [deleted user] (new)

It would.

Sammy (ireneadler) | 143 comments Mod
Holmes shouldn't have been so dramatic about it! Oh well. It was entertaining, though. I absolutely love his disguises!

message 34: by Sammy, Not a psycopath, just a high functioning sociopath. (new)

Sammy (ireneadler) | 143 comments Mod
He even said so himself, "I seem to have shocked you by my unnessicarily dramatic reappearance!"

message 35: by [deleted user] (new)

Wonder how he did the wrinkles....NEVER MIND!!!! I FEEL STUPID!!! MASKS DUH!!!

And good acting! (not for the wrinkles, just the old man affect!)

Welcome to the group!

message 42: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh hey Sammy, I read Enola Holmes twice and I think I almost like it better than Sherlock Holmes...how revolting. the author wrote skytale wrong. its Scytale. I looked it up cuz I couldn't figure out how it works.

message 43: by Sammy, Not a psycopath, just a high functioning sociopath. (new)

Sammy (ireneadler) | 143 comments Mod
Oh, that's cool! You almost like it better than the original?! Shame, Emily, shame. (JK!)
You know it's a series, right?

message 44: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah I read all 6 books twice and now I'm reading the first one again. You almost have to wonder if Sherlock & Mycroft's names are ciphers.....And now I'm randomly obsessed with scytales.

message 45: by Sammy, Not a psycopath, just a high functioning sociopath. (new)

Sammy (ireneadler) | 143 comments Mod
Lol, I seriously don't think so, but they ARE pretty odd names :P

message 46: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah. If you get rid of the S in Sherlock, its "Her Lock" and if you change the o to and A in Mycroft, its "My Craft"

Just thought I'd point that out.

message 47: by Sammy, Not a psycopath, just a high functioning sociopath. (new)

Sammy (ireneadler) | 143 comments Mod
Yeah, but I'm pretty sure those were common-ish-unusual names in the 1800s.

message 48: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah, cuz Watson never mentioned Sherlock being a ritardedly strange name.

message 49: by Sammy, Not a psycopath, just a high functioning sociopath. (new)

Sammy (ireneadler) | 143 comments Mod
But that may have been a little rude, and that would mean Arthur Conan Doyle was insulting his choice in character names! Originally the story was going to be about two detectives and Holmes's first name was going to be Sherringford.

message 50: by [deleted user] (new)

LOL THATS HILARIOUSLY INSULTING!!!!!! Why Sherringford?
