MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 3289 comments Welcome to the new and improved MobileRead Book Challenges Section!

Here’s how it works:
There are two options for book challenges:
1. Challenge yourself
This is the challenge that most of us are doing. In order to set up your challenge all you have to do is create a personal challenge thread and start reading!

You have no rules except the ones you impose on yourself. We (as the nosy people we are) just would prefer it if you make a little note as to what book you read and what you thought about it.

2. Challenge a Group
In order to start a challenge, you have to identify the type of reading challenge. There will be a suggestion thread where interested parties can suggest a challenge to others. Once the challenge has been identified, please contact me (MrsJoseph), Christa or Nyssa in order to set up the challenge widget.

Each group challenge needs to have its own thread and the books in the challenge need to be listed both in the thread and the group’s bookshelf. If you have problems adding a book to the group bookshelf, please contact a moderator. We’re here to help!

If your challenge will include other people, please be conscientious of others and use spoiler tags.

It will be up to the participants to set the length of the challenge (both length of time and number of books).

The challenges are not limited to members of Mobileread. If you have friends from other groups that are interested, please feel free to ask them to join up!

Type of Challenges:
The participants decide what type of challenge they will have. Your challenge can include books that start with the letter “B,” Urban Fantasy books that have swords on the cover or even books with authors who all have the same last name. There are no limits so you’re only limited by your imagination!

Nyssa | 1569 comments I love this idea!!

Am I right in assuming, since it is not stated, that neither of these challenges are timed, nor do they have a "number of books" goal? Is the challenge then to just read all or as many as possible?

Nyssa, both of these are free-form challenges. You set your own goal and post it in the thread for that particular challenge. The details are in the two challenge threads. For example, my goal for Dresden is to read up to White Knight.

Whoever creates a challenge thread can choose the type (timed, whole-series, free-form, etc).

Nyssa | 1569 comments Nice! I've been wanting to start the Dresden Files for a while now, but, I have so many other books already in my possession that have not yet been read. I think I may have to leave this for now and make it a part of my 2012 Challenge.

Ghost in the Stacks Guess I should have read this first!

I actually love to make challenges, I will have to think of something for next month!
