lol, but then wouldn't you just be a fan? A regular old boring fan, what would you do so that she would remember you?

I honestly don't think I would do anything if I met her. I don't she's gonna care about what I say to her, it would just be a waste of time. I know how much I love the books and admire her writing, she knows who ever likes HP admires her writing so why do I need to tell her that? If she had wanted to know she could have just asked for a list from a agent.

very true except not for the epislogue part
very true except not for the epislogue part

But what about the fact that there are no more awesome adventures, and that they go so far into the future....why not see what happens in the near future instead and have another book. Many of my friends and others I know are also disappointed aout it...

But I think she wanted o finish the series off. A good series can't go on and on. They have to end sometime

haha, why do you think it's a let down. She infact stated "My original epilogue was very in detail and much more explaining but I didn't want there to be a "all loose ends tied feeling" in the end. Iwanted my readers to wonder"

well...most fans I know in real life, wanted the loose ends tied up. They wanted to know all the details that might frustrate other people. I must say I agree with the logic that sure, they can still wonder of what happens even later. But what about the details that'll keep the fans who's minds might not have the capability to wonder far enough to find the answer? Some people can't imagine much and all the extra details would be good for them.

I'm one of those people who would have loved so much more detail. I'm glad that JKR released additional information about the characters in interviews after DH. Still, I would have preferred to see more in the epilogue. I know JKR originally had a more detailed epilogue, but got rid of it because it didn't "work very well as a piece of writing." I guess I can understand what she means, and I understand that she wanted to show Harry safe and content with his family, though I think the epilogue is overly sweet. Don't get me wrong - I would have been outraged if Harry married anyone except Ginny or if Ron married anyone except Hermione. It's not the lack of realism that bothers me. It's just the fairy-tale-like presentation.

Mugglenet has a list of specific similarities here
I don't like the word "copy" here. JKR drew on several sources to create her story, but she wove all these familiar elements together to create something that stands out as her own. All authors, to a certain extent, are influenced by other works. Tolkien himself was inspired by Norse mythology. In some cases (the Inheritance Cycle, the first PJ book etc.), too much heavy borrowing from other sources does occur, I think. But again, this is just my opinion.
