I'm so excited to see a Study group on here, this is by far one of my favorite series ever written.
Just an FYI, the first time I logged on to join this site, my friend Mary Anne was logged in, and I accidentally joined and created a poll under her name. I've since corrected it, but if you see anything by a mystery member named Mary Anne, it was just me!
Happy to be here!
Hi everyone! I'm so glad that there's more Study crazies out there besides me and Alethea. Ari and Janco are my favorites.

I've recommended this book to others who are looking for a good, strong feminine character.

Loved Poison Study! First book in a while that I finished in a day. I haven't read the rest of the Study books yet, due to school reading and writing taking up all my free time, but they're next on the stack.

Sure! I'm pretty much willing to talk about anything about the program.
I don't know if anyone else wants to hear about it, so we can take it private if it's not of interest to anyone else.
Ann and Suzann,
That's pretty interesting, actually! Feel free to create a new topic under the heading Off Topic (you'll see I have one there already). I'm sure those writer-types of us would love to hear about it, and/or daydream of taking a writing class with MVS someday ;) even if we live clear across the country at the moment...

I am looking forward to the new series though.

I know what you mean, Michelle. I think the next time I read through Poison Study I'll surpass the number of times I read Twilight!

I just read "Poison Study" but I really loved it and can't wait to get my edition of "Magic Study" as well. Maria is such a great author and it's a shame that almost anyone knows her in Germany! But I'm trying hard to change that ;)! I recommend her books to a few friends and told them to say it everybody else if they liked them, too!
P.S.-I'm new in this group and no natural english speaker, so if I make mistakes during my posting, please forgive me ;)!
Christina,
You're doing great! Better than some folks I had English class with last semester :-P Thanks for supporting Maria in Germany, and have fun posting!

Looking forward to hanging around!

OMG Liz I knew you'd be the one to try to break my record. I think Jane and I together made up 100! and now I've lost track... oh well, Malcolm Gladwell will have to do his own research to track down how we got Poison Study to the Tipping Point! I did tell MVS you'd be the one to get all of UCLA reading her books!

Back in the day, I worked at an independent bookstore and we wrote up recommendations for the books we liked. Now I just have hope that people are reading my reviews here on Goodreads, and of course that my friends listen when I share my favorites with them. Which they usually do!
I think people immediately latch on to great readers. Am I the only one who gets asked by acquaintances what's a good read? It's understandable when a customer at a bookstore or a library patron asks me, but it's odd when someone you barely know emails you for reading lists.

I've always been the go-to gal in school when someone needed a book that would suit them perfectly for a report or just for fun (since I memorized the library database).

Raissa, thank you! Valek is totally a ninja. I hope if they ever make a movie they really take advantage of that now-you-see-him, now-you-don't ninja quality. I occasionally also think of John Turturro's character, Emilio in Mr. Deeds--you know, "sneaky-sneaky".
If you love the Power Twins, you'll get right along with Jane. ;-)

I read Poison Study and loved it. Cant wait until I can get the others but sadly probably wont happen until after Christmas.
Glad I found this group, been browsing the posts and it seems like its going to be fun.
Donna

Welcome Donna and Stephanie! Happy reading/posting/polling... it's a bit quite around here at the moment but most of us normally talkative types are prepping for finals right now, so I think that's sapping most of our time. ;-) For those that are *really* literally studying, good luck on your tests, buddy!
Hi!
I just found this site from a link on a author's website. I ordered the study books on a whim last summer and I love them! I have looked though this group and it seems fun.

I loved reading the Study books and am looking forward to reading more by Maria. I'm also excited to be a part of this group and it's fountain of book recommendations. Unfortuately, it has probably doubled my 'to-read' list and I'm not sure when I'll be able to get to it all (I'm a stay at home mom and my little one keeps me busy).
Thanks to everyone that has made this group! Hopefully, I'll be able to participate more.

Oh yessirree bob! Storm Glass is due out Apr 28-May 1 (thereabouts) next year in the US, with Sea Glass due only 4 months later. Maria just signed on for the 3rd Glass book (the series is about Opal Cowen, the glassmaker from Magic and Fire Study) plus 2 others (topics still TBD! so stay tuned :-)
Welcome, putter around the site and don't be afraid to post, post, post!

soooooooooo annoying ..... plus i have to wait till the glass series thing comes out as well before i can buy it in shops
anyone elses mum like this or am i just really unfortunate
btw ive read the second one in the study series n now i want the third to know how the story ends ...... :'(:'(:'(

Maybe you can persuade your mom...tell her people do this all the time and if you order from sites like amazon, a pretty safe site, you'll be fine! And besides, its just a book. It's not like you're ordering a diamond ring from some unknown site.
But I really think you should get the third soon because it's REALLY good!!

the whole amazon thing doesnt matter to her im going to cry if i dont find out about that soon
i dont even know if its out over here yet :S

The Code of Behavior
* Be courteous!
* Post topics and comments in the proper folder--if you don't see an appropriate one, just add a folder.
*I'm adopting a new policy some of the other groups use--if you aren't participating in the group but are self-promoting in posts, your post will be put in the SPAM folder! SPAM Events will be deleted.
* Only the moderators can add books to the bookshelf, but you can post about any book you like in the discussion folder "More books to love to death". We'll be scanning them periodically and adding relevant titles to the bookshelf.
* Overwhelmed? Go read a topic that interests you. Under the group icon for Study Buddies, you'll see topics: all | new | unread. Click on unread, then you will see a list of messages marked "new" in red. The link will now say unread-participated. Clicking on this will only show you new messages for discussion threads you've read before!
If reading a long thread, the upper right link will say "newest >" and will fast-forward you to the most recent messages. Thank you TNBBC, for teaching me this! You think jumping into things here is hard, TNBBC is downright scary at first! And then you'll find the water is warm and the people are friendly.
