I'll go ahead and start.
Hi all you future group members, all you theoretical ones anyway. I'm Amelia and I love to read, especially fantasy, which is why I created this group. Some of my favorite authors are Robin McKinley, Mercedes Lackey, Carol Berg, Janny Wurts, Brandon Sanderson and my latest find - Steven Erikson. I'm loving the Malazan books so far.
Usually I can be found with a book in my hands and some great tunes playing in my ear. Looking forward to meeting all of you. Until you get here, I might do a lot of rambling by myself. Why, well, simply because I can.

I like to travel and enjoy spending time with my family.
I like Brandon Sanderson, Alma Yates, Jerry Borrowman and many more. I'm now reading the Fablehaven series by Brandon Mull. Currently I'm on Grip of the Shadow Plague. I'll be reading The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie next for another book club.

I like the same authors Amelia likes, with the possible exception of Erikson's Malazan which I just couldn't get into. Love, love, love Janny Wurts and Carol Berg. I just tried a Robin McKinley and found it wrenching. Will have to try more of her! Also have loved Robin Hobb and Guy Gavriel Kay.
Besides fantasy, I love good historical fiction ala Dorothy Dunnett, although haven't found anyone else as good as her.
And there's science fiction, mystery, and just plain literature. I've loved reading since I was a kid and have more or less always had my nose in a book, like Amelia.
Hope we can have some good talks.

Welcome Joshua, Sandra and Shannon. It's great to have you here!
Sandra, I know how much you liked Erikson, but you tried it, so I think that's fair. As to Robin McKinley, her other stuff isn't nearly as heart-wrenching as Deerskin. Try The Blue Sword, one of me personal favorites, or for a good Beauty and the Beast retelling there's Beauty: A Retelling of the Story of Beauty and the Beast, which may have been my introduction to Robin. I personally like her older stuff better.

Will do. Thanks for the recs!

I'm Sara and I have fairly eclectic taste in books - there's not a lot that I won't read - but some of my favourite fantasy authors are David Eddings, I love the Belgariad, Raymond E. Feist, Brandon Sanderson, Terry Pratchett and Piers Anthony. I also loved the Dragonlance series, althought it's been over 15 years since I read them.
Aside from fantasy, I read a lot of historical romance, graphic novels, mystery/thrillers, plays and sci-fi. My favourite series is The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
I've tried a few of the authors listed here, Brent Weeks, Robin McKinley and Janny Wurts to name a few, and have loved their books plus there are others that I'd like to get to soon, like Fablehaven and Malazan, but there never seems to be enough time to get to them all! Hopefully some of the comments and recommendations here can help narrow down the choices to the ones I'm most likely to love!!! :D

Welcome Jack! I watch the group, but haven't had the best success getting discussions going. I feel like I'm talking to myself sometimes. LOL! You never know who might come along and join up. Glad to have you here!

I've only read The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms by her. I need to get back and finish the series. I enjoyed the first book.
I hope you're enjoying The Fifth Season!
I hope you're enjoying The Fifth Season!

Hilo, my name is Grace. I am excited to see what it is like to be in a group. I am new-ish to goodreads and have never been in one before. I love to read and talk about my favorite books and authors. As for my favorite genres, most of the time I read fantasy, fiction, romance, paranormal, science fiction, dystopian, NA, YA, some horror, some mystery, etc.
Welcome Grace! It's great to have you here. It's been a pretty quiet group recently, but I do check out everything and would love to talk to you about books!
