Kristina Riggle (kristina_riggle) | 12 comments I'll tell you mine, about THINGS WE DIDN'T SAY.

"OMG, do you *know* someone like Mallory?!"

(The answer: No. And whew.)

Susan (susanmcb) | 39 comments I second that "whew," Kristina! ;-)

I think mine would be: do you use your real-life in your books?

Answer: not on purpose. When I sit down to write, I feel like I'm in another world (and invading other people's lives--my characters'). If any bits of my life seep in, it's unintentional. But I do think my experiences definitely shape what I write about. I don't think there's any way to avoid that.

Susan Phillips (susanelizabethphillips) | 38 comments Why don't you write faster? is probably the number one question I get asked. Followed by, Why aren't there any movies of your books? And.. When's your next book coming out.

Answers: Because I can't. Because so many movies of books we like suck. By the end of 2012, I hope.

Anthony Bellaleigh (anthonybellaleigh) Ladies, I feel a little nervous about posting amongst such successful authoresses...!! Hopefully you won't mind my humble contribution.

Having finally taken the plunge and published my first novel (after 15 years hard labour - actually, make that fun!), I guess the question people ask me the most is: "What inspired you to start writing?"

I like the question because it hints at the storyteller trapped somewhere inside everyone. It reveals the secret dreamer that runs free during childhood and again, later in life, when stroking our child's forehead at bedtime. It confesses that, deep inside whatever adult shields we wear from day-to-day, we like to let our imaginations run free.

My answer, sadly, is a little more boring: One day, I simply couldn't find anything to read in my local bookshop. Back then, the internet (and fantastic resources like this site) were themselves just Sci-Fi... and, a good job too... or I'd have never "had a crack" at it. :)

With warmest regards, Anthony

Shilpi Gowda (ssgowda) | 16 comments For me, it would be ... "how much of your story is based on your life or people you know" and the answer is "very little." My life is far too undramatic to make for interesting fiction so (save for some setting details), it's mostly a product of my overactive imagination. My family and friends are safe -- they probably won't ever appear in one of my stories.

That is a great answer Anthony! I like the idea that everyone is a secret dreamer with wild imaginations! I wish more people were whimsical and able to enjoy cutting loose more often!

Anthony Bellaleigh (anthonybellaleigh) Thank-you, Shell's Bells :)

Kristin Hannah | 2 comments Hi everyone---I don't know if I've missed the one day window. Probably. :) Anyway, I would say the question I get most often is: "Are you going to write a sequel to...(fill in the blank--I've been asked this about every book I've written)?" It's enough to make an author paranoid about her endings. :)

Answer: Generally, the answer is no. I don't do sequels. But someday, hopefully, I'll write one to Firefly Lane, but I have no idea when...

message 9: by Nancy (new)

Nancy Brewer (nancybrewer) | 3 comments For me the number one thing people ask me is,
"I am thinking about writing a book. How do I get it published?" I tell them write the book! Then worry about the details. As every author knows it is a long way from, 'once upon a time' to 'the end' in your first book.

message 10: by Epic (new)

Epic Sex Stories (epicsexstories) | 1 comments "Why do I put my own pictures on the book covers?" is my most frequent question. I write erotica. See my other fotos. Coveting My Neighbor's Wife by Epic Sex Stories
