Michele bookloverforever (lovebooks14) | 83 comments George Sand wrote, "..foolish men who punish murder with murder.." Killing someone in defense of one's life or the life of another (at the moment it is happening) is one thing. However, under certain circumstances (serial killers for instance) the death penalty might be appropriate providing there was a deluge of physical evidence. If one does not live in a civilized society with honest police, incorruptable justice, prisons...that's a whole different story.

Michele bookloverforever (lovebooks14) | 83 comments In the best of all possible worlds there would be no corruption. however, the reality is that human beings make bad choices and are corruptible by money, power, sex...corruption of judges, jurors, attorneys corrupts the system. On the whole the US system works most of the time. But death is pretty final...what if new evidence comes to light after the execution? an "oops, sorry about that" doesn't help does it?
