Jacob I've read both Fallen and Twilight and I find them very much alike. they both are about a girl in a love triangle with supernateral guys, but which one do you like better, Fallen or Twilight? why? Do you find them to be alike or are they completely different to you?

Nurlely I like Fallen series, all the books. I think book 1 of Twilight series is okay. I did not have the same interest with the sequels. I think the fantasy world in Twilight series is a mess. Personally I do not think Fallen and Twilight are similar.

Carrie Marshall OMG! Twilight hands down. The series is straight forward and a true vamp love story that ends beautifully! Fallen starts out confusing, I am still confused at book 3, and can only hope for a good ending for Luce and Daniel in book4. No comparison. I like both... But The Twilight Saga is Epic in every sense.

Monisa Ahmed i think 'twilight' is the best so far! apart from if i say 'fallen' is not so touching!...:(...i dont think they are similar....hehe!

Gloria I choose Twilight

Nurlely I wonder why it is even Saga? What is so Saga about Twilight?

Mockingjay I definitely choose Fallen!

Nurlely I used to like Twilight. I think book 1 is quite refreshing. But then it gets worse. How did Stephenie manage to write a messy fantasy world?

Krystal Fallen all the way!!

message 10: by rose (new) - rated it 4 stars

rose I think Fallen. Because I'm kinda sick of twilight, with everyone obsessed with it. It gets old pretty fast, So It's nice to have something new like Fallen (plus I don't think their very similar at all!)

Krystal I agree. with everyone being in to Twilight i didnt even bother reading it. After skimming the blurb I didnt bother reading it because it wasn't my type of book.

Nurlely And Jacob is the lamest male character in the fantasy novels. Poor Jacob....poor Twilight!

message 13: by rose (new) - rated it 4 stars

rose I read it and liked it, I just think everyone got real crazy over nothing. I mean it was good, But It wasn't "i'm gonna scream and marry Edward Cullen cuz I'm a lunatic", good. and that's how everyone is Treating it, with the occasional substitution of Jacob.

Krystal Yes that is true. Yet everyone that i know and saw around my school did go all as you put it "I'm gonna scream and marry Edward Cullen cause I'm a lunatic" And then with the movie it just got worse i think.

Yup. some people are just Crazy. And it really makes me mad when people are all like "I hate reading, I only read the Twilight saga because I loved the movies, and I just LOVED twilight" I mean COME ON, there are soooo much better books than just Twilight! And people just read twilight and stop reading, and don't even realize their are so much better books then just One series!

message 16: by Nurlely (last edited Aug 07, 2011 08:26PM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Nurlely I like the romance in Twilight but as much as I love the interaction between the characters, I also have to admit that I tried not to focus in Twilight's fantasy world. It is so weird I would have hated the series if I did not ignore the fantasy.

I love everything in Fallen series...:)

message 17: by Kora (new) - rated it 5 stars

Kora Twilight but i do like Fallen

message 18: by rose (new) - rated it 4 stars

rose I am so not gonna read all of that lol! But from what I did read I kinda agree. Like why would anyone think a stalker is romantic?

Krystal Yes an understandable fact, alot of the students at my school never read and when this came out they read all of them and then I have not seem them pick up another book. I read like ALOT but I never saw the big fasinating deal about twilight, I didnt read the books but I did watch a Utube clip on other people reading it and I wouldnt have watch the whole reading of the book if the person reading it wasnt so funny.
As you were saying during the reading it wasnt so much focused on the fantasy side and thats the side that I like most if I read a paranormal novel I do expect a good storyline on that with maybe a touch of romance but not so much it ruins the paranormal as I though twilight did.

Shelby *Rose* wrote: "I am so not gonna read all of that lol! But from what I did read I kinda agree. Like why would anyone think a stalker is romantic?"

Seriously. It's like if I were to sneak into, lets say, Taylor Lautners bedroom window to watch him while he slept because I had some interest in him. So, lets say he woke up and saw me there. His first reaction would be, "Awh, thats so romantic." OR "SHIT, Call the COPS!"
Like honestly, what the hell does love stand for these days? I blame girls because we have this idea in our heads of the 'perfect guy' and this is why there is no chiverlry(sorry i didn't spell that right) anymore because guys think that girls are nuts because some girls' idea of a perfect guy is a pale, sparkly, vampire who watches you as you sleep. Or the fact that people think that when Luce was breaking into the office to find info on Daniel that she was doing it out of love and its romantic. That is not romantic or love that is stalking and crazy.

Marlene Twilight was so much better I hated fallen not a book I would ever tell a friend to read it's bad

Nurlely Sparkling vampires, awful pregnancy and baby imprinting. The lamest character in fantasy novel. Oh my! What a mess!

Kimi Personally I'd have to say that I like Twilight more. I didn't find out about Twilight until right before the second movie came out. After I saw the first movie I just knew that I had to read the books. I personally loved them. I'm not saying that Twilight is the best thing since sliced bread or anything or I thought everything was perfect. But I did enjoy it for what it was. I read the series at least 5 time but that was only because I wasn't obsessed with paranormal books 3 years ago. I just got hooked last year. I feel like Twilight was a unique take on vampires. My favorite books were book 1 & 3. As a series goes I definitely like it but I cannot say that I think it's the best out there. As far as vampire series go, Vampire Academy is my number one. I thought that Fallen book 1 & 3 were okay but I'm not in love with the series.

Kyra M Johnson Fallen!! Of corse:)

I also like Vampire Academy, but the central of the story is not Lissa the vampire but Rose, a dhampir.
So I can not really say that VA is my best vampire story. I love Anne Rice's vamps but I think my best for now is Sookie Stackhouse series, the southern vampires stories, if Ms Harris can make her 12th and 13th book as awesome as her first books.

I can say that I love the romance in Twilight but as fantasy novels, Twilight is a mess. I think SM did not have any idea that the series will be that famous so she did not actually write the supernatural world in a best way. Her inconsistency with vampires and pregnancy only makes her supernatural world messier. She did better with The Host. I think she has learned her lesson with Twilight.

Yes, when I first started reading Vampire Academy, I was confused. I was thinking, how could this be about vampires if it isn't centered around Lissa. But after I got into it, I really enjoyed it. It really didn't affect it for me that it wasn't centered around a vampire. I loved the whole story, the action, romance, friendship... everything. It kept drawing me in with every book. I can't wait for Bloodlines!

Anne Rice and Sookie Stackhouse are both on my list to read so I'll have to let you know what I think. I don't have them yet so I don't know when I'll get to read them. I have like 70+ ebooks to read. Have you read Chicagoland Vampires or Black Dagger Brotherhood?

I haven't read The Host either but I want to read that soon too. I have it. Yes she was pretty inconsistent with Twilight but I liked that it was new and different. I was never into Paranormal books/series but Twilight opened me up to it. I definitely think it was the romance aspect. It wasn't all about blood sucking (which was how I stereotyped vampires prior to reading Twilight). I don't have any major problem with Twilight though. For what it was, it was cool. Easy, good read.

Thanks! =) If I really did run out of books to read (highly unlikely because I have way too many), I'd totally go back and read book 1 and 3 of Twilight probably. Maybe even parts of books 2 & 4. I'll always have a special place in my heart for Twilight despite what people say and despite what amazing series come along. =)

Nurlely ★ Kimi ★ wrote: "Yes, when I first started reading Vampire Academy, I was confused. I was thinking, how could this be about vampires if it isn't centered around Lissa.... "

I like reading VA because it is not focusing in vampires. Too much vamps series I supposed...:( But I can not involve myself furthermore to the series and the character I like is not even the main one. I prefer Adrian to Dimitri although there is nothing wrong with Dimitri and he is the best for Rose. But I will read Last Sacrifice and Bloodlines. I think Richelle Mead is an awesome writer. I am also looking forward to read her Dark Swan series...:)

★ Kimi ★ wrote: "Have you read Chicagoland Vampires or Black Dagger Brotherhood?"

Not yet. I have Black Dagger Brotherhood but not Chicagoland vampires.

Natasha Syn Fallen or Twilight? hmmmm Fallen i've read the book and i'm quite impressed and anxious to read the following books, the other choice Twilight. Well i've never read it, and am glad i've not read it. And planning not to, Twilight that is.

Sarah Hussain Twilight. I have read all three books of fallen and i think they have like to much going on at the same time or nothing going on. so twilight is my answer

I liked the fact that VA wasn't focused on the vampire too. It was new and different because the person that I expected for the focus to be on was major but not the primary character. I definitely think you should read the last of VA and also Bloodlines. I'm excited about it. I haven't read Dark Swan yet but I have it. I love Richelle Mead's writing too! And I'd definitely say that I'm in love with Dimitri and Rose as a couple and as individuals. There's nothing that I don't like about either of them. I respect all of the decisions that they made and I would have made the same decisions in their situations.

I have BDB and Chicagoland. I'm about to start BDB... actually I already did start it twice but I'm only a few pages in. I'm still obsessed with Morganville. I'm on book 8 of 10. There will be one out this year and another next. I love it so much! =) Books make me smile every day.

Nurlely ★ Kimi ★ wrote: "...I definitely think you should read the last of VA and also Bloodlines. I'm excited about it... "

I will read Last Sacrifice but now I still need to finish reading Graceling....and Fire, its sequel. Later I have Awakened ( I promised Ednah that I will write a review) and Divergent is next. I think I am glad now that Iron Knight is due October. I need to finish all the books I have bought before that.

I love TV series and movies too, so I practically mess up my head with them.

I have Wither and If I Stay books next. Have you read them?

Nurlely Catherine wrote: "...Twilight the first book was written okay but New Moon and Eclipse suffered from a writing point of view. Breaking Dawn as a book was good and it is something..."

I felt the same way with book 1 and I think New Moon is the worst. As for Breaking Dawn, I think SM had tried her best to write the last book. Not too good though. She messed up Jacob's life by having Bella's daughter imprinted to him. I think SM did not mean to have Jacob character significant to the story but fans favor him. And those buying customers wanted him to meet his happy end. SM then added someone to be his.

I don't have wither or if I stay but I think they might be on my list. I have way too many books on my list. Ohh gosh I love movies too but haven't been watching too many lately. I love tv shows too. Some of my shows are on breaks right now and others started back for the summer so it works well since I watch way too many shows. I definitely can't wait for Iron Night, Vanish (firelight), Last Breath (morganville) & Silence (hush, hush)!

I'm surprised that's all I said. LOL I. Just don't understand all the hate and anger. Bella is boring and whiny, I get that but dang. And yes Luce can be very stupid and self centered. But wow. I just didn't think it was that serious.

That's pretty much how I feel too.

Nurlely I do not think I consider myself as Twilight hater. I did not rate any of the books 1 star....:) Yes I think its fantasy is a mess but I love the romance in it. Ever since I felt there was something weird with its fantasy, I did my best in ignoring them and focus in the romance so I could enjoy my reading.

Alexandra Goldillo I guess Twilight , even though it's cheesy ...

China Duncan I hate Twilight. I liked Fallen. Torment and Passion not so much. It's made me wonder about the state of supernatural genre. Is it all going to be twilight-esque crap from now on? Bleh. Both series have turned me off of vampires and angels. I'm very disappointed.

I must say I appreciate your valid opinion on which book you perfer. I could of chosen a good book for one of the choices, but then it would've been an obvious answer of which book people would perfer most. I also chose these two books because I happened to think that they are realy alike, and I wanted to discuss with other peoples opinions on if they think they're alike and if so, which one do they prefer. there pry wouldn't be much discussion if I compared a realy bad book to a realy good book. most people would agree that they prefer the good one over the bad one. but so far, all the posts on this discussion have been different.

Wow there's so many books that I want to read at the same time! The top of my list is Black Dagger Brotherhood, Chicagoland Vampires, Hunger Games, & Night Huntress! Too many books to read so little time. I think I'll add Graceling to the top of my list because I really love magic. =)
