Nice place! Very green, a lot of sea and very, very good food! ;)

message 18: by Naomi (last edited Aug 20, 2011 09:52AM) (new)

Naomi (tribalcat) | 307 comments @Elizabeth - Thanks! I got most of my challenge ideas from other members of this group.

@Marisa - I haven't been exactly where my family came from. I've been to Torrejon AFB right outside Madrid, and I've been to Paris, but never to the Basque Country...yet!

message 19: by Melodie (new)

Melodie (melodieco) | 5280 comments Did you know you can also setup your yearly reads as bookshelves? I've done this as it makes it easy to keep track of the books I've read by year and you can keep track of them by the month within that shelf by using a date finished for classification. I've got all mine here on Goodreads. The yearly shelves start with 2003 as that's when I started tracking my books by year and anything before that is on a "pre 2003" shelf. You can actually setup all kinds of shelves!

Naomi (tribalcat) | 307 comments Oh, wow. That sounds like it would keep me better organized!

Marisa (moretta) | 4145 comments Mod
@Naomi, have you been at Torrejón? I was there last night with some friends of mine (one of them lives there) watching at a show with fonts, music and light at a new park :D

message 22: by Naomi (new)

Naomi (tribalcat) | 307 comments @Marisa - I was only there for a few days, we were trying to get back to the States from Iran during the revolution. Our plane landed at Torrejon, and it took a couple of days to get another flight out.

Have you had at chance to look at the bookshelves? It's a much easier place & way to keep track of your books there and you also have a running total for the year there.

Naomi (tribalcat) | 307 comments I've completed the 2011 NaNoWriMo Challenge, and even though my novel still needs a lot of work, I have more time to read again (YAY!) I've actually done better than I thought I would this month. I only need to read 10 more books to meet my yearly goal of 150. :)

Naomi (tribalcat) | 307 comments October 2012 - Mini-challenge 2/5

Breast Cancer Awareness Month - Read a book that has the color pink on the cover.

Computer Learning Month - Read an ebook. There are many sites where you can get some ebook novella's free, or older books out of copyright. Authors sometimes give away a short ebook novella on their official websites. Library's are now offering ebooks that you can check out and download to your ereaders for two weeks. If you don't have an ereader, you can read ebooks on your computer. (I know not everyone will be able to do this one, but it's good to try new things now and then.)

Oct 11 - Teddy Bear: A Short Story

Oct 13 - International Skeptics Day - Give a book another try. Try to finish a book you put down and didn't finish, or give an author another try if you didn't like one of their previous works.

Oct 27 - Veiled Eyes
