Shannon SA (shannonsa) Hi Zakiya, a question re Task 20.3 - surely most people's feet measure less than one foot, or did I misunderstand the question?
Thank you!

message 3: by Melanie (new)

Melanie I think that might be inches? I hope mine is shorter than a foot. lol

message 4: by Melanie (last edited Aug 25, 2011 04:49PM) (new)

Melanie Zakiya, I know I recommended the task for 10.1.

Father's Day for the Aussies - Read a book with a father-child bond.

But can it be a "father-like" relationship?
I just got Tuesdays with Morrie: An Old Man, a Young Man, and Life's Greatest Lesson in the mail and it is about a teacher/student mentor relationship so would that work?

message 5: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) Shannon- Yep, do the inches. Sorry :) LOL Not sure what I was thinking about when I typed that. I think I was referring to height when I said feet lols.

Melanie-- I will change it to father-like. Yes, that book would work! Thanks for the notice.

message 6: by Melanie (new)

Melanie Thanks.

Also The Kite Runner would work for Father and Son too and its a great book.

message 7: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) Yes, I've heard it's really good!

★Meghan★ (starinheaven) | 278 comments Mod
I consider fairy tales with something of a happily ever after ending... i.e. Cinderella, Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, etc. I would say no personally.

message 14: by [deleted user] (new)

Ok I found a new one!!!! Thanks Meghan!!!

Happy Reading

message 15: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) I'm agreeing with Meghan on this one.

message 20: by Melanie (new)

Melanie I just wanted to check, do these qualify for:

35.3: I See You - Read four books where the person on the cover is facing you.
Required: Post the covers of the books when you claim your points.

Prince Caspian (The Chronicles of Narnia Series #4) by C.S. Lewis
The Chronicles of Narnia The Silver Chair by C.S. Lewis

Thank you.

message 21: by Melanie (new)

Melanie Sorry for the questions:

For the task 20.3: Measure Your Feet Day - An odd day indeed, but no matter! Measure your foot's length, and read that number.

If my foot length is (ahem) 9 inches long, how do I read this task?

N, I, N, E as the book titles or the number 9 in the title or series number?

message 22: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) 20.3-- N I N E as the book titles.
35.3-- Those will work!

Melanie- No problem, the q's aren't a bother :)

message 23: by Melanie (new)

Melanie Thanks Zakiya, i am a blonde so it might explain it. lol

message 24: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) Haha, sokay. I understand. I have dark brown hari, and I'm still a blonde sometimes :)

No don't worry Melanie! I was totally thrown off by the foot task earlier too.

message 26: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) :) See, we're all confused at one point. I probably need to clarify that.

message 27: by Melanie (new)

Melanie For Task 50.1: And the Award Goes To... - Read five books that have won a literary award. *It should show all the awards the book's gotten on its homepage.*

Does this include the Goodreads Choice Awards Literary winners (http://www.goodreads.com/award/show/4...) or is this just for the awards like Pulitzer Prize awards and Newbery Medal awards etc?

message 28: by ★Meghan★ (new)

★Meghan★ (starinheaven) | 278 comments Mod
Yes it can be any award that they have won...as long as it has an award listed on the book's page.

message 29: by Melanie (new)

Melanie Thanks so much Meghan.

message 30: by Melanie (new)

Melanie Zakiya or Maghan, I just wanted to make sure Im looking at the right list for Task 100.0

Is the list this one: http://1001beforeyoudie.com/
The "1001 books you must read before you die."

message 31: by Melanie (new)

Melanie Sorry for all the questions. lol

For task 35.2 C- read a book where the main character lives in the country would The Boy in the Striped Pajamas work?

Ive seen the movie and do think that it is the country so can I read this book for this task?

message 32: by Zakiya (last edited Dec 09, 2011 04:08PM) (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) Yeah, I'll count that for 35.2 C!

This is the link to the list that Meghan provided me with. For this task, just try to use this list please. LIST. If you scroll down, you'll see the "Lite" option, which is free. You can download it to your computer if you want.

message 33: by Melanie (new)

Melanie Thanks Zakiya, the first time I downloaded it I didn't think it worked but now I realise you have to click through nthe tabs on the bottom left corner.

i can see it now. lol

message 34: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) Haha, yeah I did the same thing. :)

message 35: by Melanie (new)

Melanie Hi Zakiya and Meghan, I just wanted to ask a question about another task:

15.2: Chinese New Year - Read a book based in China or with a Chinese character.

I read Fortune Cookie which is a book about a Chinese-Australia that relocated to Singapore in the 1960's to work for ad company.

Would this class as Chinese based or character?

message 36: by ★Meghan★ (new)

★Meghan★ (starinheaven) | 278 comments Mod
Yes! If it took place in China and the character is is at least half Chinese.

message 37: by Melanie (new)

Melanie The character's parents are both Chinese but is 4th generation Australian.

message 38: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) Does the character go back to China at all during the novel?

message 39: by Melanie (new)

Melanie Only Singapore and Hong Kong.

I will use it for the task for 400 pages or more.

message 40: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) Oh, well, the setting was still, even if only for a short time, set in China. Whichever you prefer to use it for.

message 41: by Melanie (new)

Melanie If it is okay with you I will use it for the Chinese task.

message 42: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) That's fine! I guess I should have specified a little more on that one. Go ahead and use it for Chinese :)

message 43: by Melanie (new)

Melanie Thank you.
