How to join this group (in October)?

Nicolle Anyone can read this buddy read you don't have to 'join' or anything.

Cary (forestercary) | 22 comments Is it read at your own pace?

Cary (forestercary) | 22 comments I haven't read my copy yet. Hope I can catch up easily, im such a slow reader

Jessi | 52 comments Loved this book so much. First I saw the movie and was so into it I located my book (had owned it for a while just never got around to starting out)

Jessi | 52 comments I've always wanted to see the play Hopefully one of these days

Nicolle I'll start this week...promise (I know I'm not that reliable when I say I am going to start).

Jessi | 52 comments Who is everyone's favorite character?

message 14: by Cary (new) - rated it 5 stars

Cary (forestercary) | 22 comments I've started reading the first few pages and it's starting to break my heart.. ;(

Jessi | 52 comments Shug was an awesome character. I also really enjoyed Sofia. They both had such spunk and didn't let anyone control them.

Cary (forestercary) | 22 comments Im 70% done with the book and it is really amazing! I keep on putting off reading this because I thought it's very depressing but I was wrong.

Jessi | 52 comments It is a very sad book but I quite enjoyed it overall

Cary (forestercary) | 22 comments Yeah, the tone is really sad but I didn't feel sad the entire time I was reading it. I do feel sorry for Celie's hardships but something in her character also tells me that I should not feel sorry for her.

Cary (forestercary) | 22 comments Im done with the book and it was great. Im surprised I was able to finish it in more or less two days.

Nicolle I am finally reading this now. I am about a third of the way through, and I'm really enjoying it. I especially love the way that it is written in the form of letters in a colloquial fashion of Celie's idiolect. The topic of the book is quite graphic and really depicts what an awful life many black people suffered.
