Diane U (djuseless) It's time to start nominations for October's Christian Fiction group read. I used the list of categories from the Theme thread and using Random.org, it selected:

Western

Rules:
1. Nominations are open until the 14th of the month. Rachel will let us know which book has "won" on the 15th.
2. Books must be Christian fiction, or "clean" fiction to be eligible for this read.
3. Books are chosen using Random.org to make it completely fair.
3. One nomination per person.

Nominations so far:

1. Love Comes Softly by Janette Oke - Diane
2. Lonestar Sanctuary by Colleen Coble - Camille
3. A Hopeful Heart by Kim Vogel Sawyer - Lorrie
4. Paper Roses by Amanda Cabot - Rachel
5. Homespun Bride by Jillian Hart - Victoria
6. Out of Control by Mary Connealy - Carissa

Diane U (djuseless) I started this month's nominations early. I am going away for an extended holiday camping weekend and making these postings is rather challenging on an iPhone. I will be able to read and respond to threads but I cannot edit them. If you post your nomination before the 6th, I will update the list when I return.

So I will post my nomination then. It is:

Love Comes Softly by Janette Oke

Did you know that the Hallmark Channel is airing two prequels to the Love Comes Softly series?
Love Begins Sept 17 9/8c and Love's Everlasting Courage Oct 1 9/8c.

I nominate A Hopeful Heart by Kim Vogel Sawyer

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) I'd like to nominate Paper Roses by Amanda Cabot. I think I lot of us may all ready have this book as it was free on Kindle a while back?

message 7: by ⚜️XAR (new)

⚜️XAR the Bookwyrm (xar-the-bookwyrm) I'll nominate Homespun Bride by Jillian Hart. This one is still free for the Kindle, and is pretty good.

message 8: by Carissa (new)

Carissa Out of Control by Mary Connealy

Camille (camlovesraptors) | 802 comments No matter what, I think we'll have a great read in October!

message 12: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Definitely, all of these look excellent :)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Diane, I'm actually going to be moving into my new flat on the 15th and probably won't get the chance to come on here and pick October's group read, so would you mind doing it this month? I've got a little plug-in internet dongle to keep me going until we get our home phone line and broadband set up, so I'll pop in here and there to check up on you guys, but it might be a week or so until we have everything sorted so internet usage will be low!

message 14: by Diane U (new)

Diane U (djuseless) Not a problem Rachel! Have fun moving!

message 15: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Haha, I'll try! Half my bedroom is in boxes right now, I'm trying to be sensible about what I'm packing but it's still a bit hectic...

I honestly think that moving is the worst thing EVER!!! But you can clean things out in the process. I've only moved twice and that was too much for me!! LOL!

message 17: by Camille (new)

Camille (camlovesraptors) | 802 comments I hate, hate, hate, hate, HATE moving! And yet I have moved every year since I started college, and am considering moving to France after I graduate in May... Which means, Rachel, that I'll be closer to your neck of the woods!

message 18: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Thankfully the flat is full furnished so I don't have to bring any furniture, but just packing stuff for the kitchen and books and clothes can be a hassle, especially when you have to try to fit it all into one car.

Ooh, what are you planning to do in France, Camille? Are you planning to practice Law there?

message 19: by Camille (new)

Camille (camlovesraptors) | 802 comments Moving the furniture is the absolute worst! I try to find furnished places too whenever I move...

I am actually considering a job where I would be teaching English in France. In the alternative, I would like to study French in Paris. I am moderately fluent and would like to attain full fluency in French. And ever since I first visited Paris and then later studied abroad it has become my favorite place in the whole world! I just really want to live there again, and now is the time to do it as I am single, have no children, and don't have a permanent job. Once I have any of those things I cannot really pick up and move to France for a year very easily. :)

message 20: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) I know quite a few people from university who spend a year teaching English abroad, it sounds like there are a lot of those jobs floating around. Are your family French? Just guessing because of your name...

The one thing about the fully furnished flat is that it comes with all the kitchen stuff - plates, cutlery, pots and pans etc. I normally wouldn't mind this but as this is my third year of university I've acquired all the kitchen stuff I need but this flat doesn't really require me to bring anything...but I'd kind of like to use my own stuff so that it feels like home, you know? I don't mind using someone else's furniture but I do like to have my own mugs and suchlike :)

Camille (camlovesraptors) | 802 comments My first name is French, though my mother just picked it randomly. I'm actually 1/2 Pennsylvanian Dutch (my last name is very german-esque) and 1/4 Swedish, and the rest is European Mutt, but I don't know for sure what that mix is. My mom just liked the name. Hahaha.

How nice to get all the kitchen stuff too! At least as far as the moving aspect, but I know what you mean, I have a ton of kitchen stuff myself but am using barely any as my roommates had already furnished the kitchen in its entirety. But you get to create your own home soon when you are married. :) Then you can get all comfy and settled in! :)

message 22: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Ah, I see! You've got quite an interesting heritage then :)

Hopefully! But I think we'll probably be renting for a while, and most places to rent right now seem to be furnished? It's odd but people seem to expect furniture when they rent a flat these days. If we could find somewhere furnished but lacking in kitchen stuff it would be nice! :)

message 23: by Diane U (new)

Diane U (djuseless) Today is the last day to nominate a book! If you have not done so, please do it today. I will be picking the book tomorrow since Rachel is moving.

message 24: by Rachel (last edited Sep 14, 2011 10:07AM) (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) All of these books look excellent! If I manage to unpack enough tomorrow to find my internet dongle, I'll come and check which one we're going to read :)

message 25: by Diane U (new)

Diane U (djuseless) Next month, we will be reading:

#3 - A Hopeful Heart by Kim Vogel Sawyer

Thanks Lorrie for making this suggestion!

message 26: by Camille (new)

Camille (camlovesraptors) | 802 comments This looks excellent! Yay!

message 27: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Just popping in briefly in between unpacking! This one does look fun, and I've only read one of Kim's YA books before, Katy's New World, so it'll be interesting to read one of her romances.
