The Olympian Hunger Games discussion
Arena 4 Discussion
I think that it should be like in the origional Hunger Games where the people from the same District are on a team but eventually have to kill each other or something to that effect. Make it more dramatic.

But, like Klymene, I also really liked the Clockwork Arena. Something like that might freshen up the roleplay.
Also, I think we should devise some kind of system for claiming Tributes that have been abandoned or out of use for quite some time. Maybe if someone doesn't post for like a month (without warning us they're going to be away or they're sick or something) then their charry is up for grabs? That's what's slowing down Arenas 2 and 3 right now.
What do you guys think?
I agree AWJ. I like all of that for the AFK characters here's my thought -
After a week we claim them and if they come back we get them up to speed and they take them back. Because even a month is just too long.

Maybe after two weeks we can claim their charrie on a temporary basis (as you suggested, we bring them up to speed when they return).
After one month, their character is permanently claimed.
That would decrease the waiting time. Thoughts?
AWJ I think that's a good idea, how about depending on when they dissapear (since it's usually hard to tell which day it is) we give them from monday-sunday (that way they have the weekend to come back).
So say it goes like this -
- Bob dissapears on Thursday
-We start counting on monday through to Sunday.
We need to make sure they have time to come back, weekends especially. But I like your thoughts too.

In the meantime, we can continue planning Arena 4.

The Arena is split into several sections, each governed by one of the great monsters of Greek Mythology (the gorgon, Ladon, hydra, chimera, etc.).
Each section contains a unique environment and is stalked by these creatures. However, within their lairs lie cornucopias filled with an assortment of valuable treasures (the main cornucopia would still exist).
The principle idea of this arena would be the same as usual; kill all other Tributes.
However, heroes could also attempt the challenges; slaying the great monsters to claim their hordes of treasure (weapons, food, medicine, and perhaps other things such as maps, secrets about other monsters, etc.)
I would create a map listing these zones and we could vote on the major monsters to include in each area. I could also create a list of what items would be found in each treasure trove.
I'll list some monsters for consideration shortly.
What do you guys think?
Alright. So now that we have the 'claiming' taken care of what else should we really get into detail with that's been lacking?

Kay! You are a genius! That's so creative and different! AWJ what do you think? It'd be a bit complicated to do...
But I think if we pull it off it'd work really well.

Central room containing the Cornucopia, adjoining passageways, possibly other large rooms hidden throughout...
One thing I'd like to suggest is making the minotaur invincible. Otherwise, I just know some of our more power-playing posters will take it out within the first five minutes.
Excellent idea, Kay.
Or instead of invincible - invisible? You can't see it and so it could be anywhere and so when you are attacked you have to run or use hearing to fight it.
Good thoughts AWJ and also Kay I stand by my earlier post - you are a genius.

I think invincibility would make the minotaur a little more feared and, as I said, someone's likely going to hit it with a poison dart or club it over the head really earlier on in the game.
Oh, skin like the neamon lion will help make him more invincible, but he has to be somewhat kill-able. And he reforms quickly too
AWJ - I think your right, people tend to 'God Play' in this role-play book... and it's not very realistic but that's one way to put a stop to it.
So I agree invincible it is.
So I agree invincible it is.
Sure - but we need to make sure everyone who creates one is decently active.

My only reservation about starting sign-up is we already have two Arenas open. I don't think we should start Arena 4 until one of the others is done. Sign-up might be all right, though.
Agreed, Arena two is stale, I tried bringing it up with my character but it didn't work.

Even if we put all the characters up for grabs, it's been so long I doubt anyone would remember what to do with them.
I'll put in a notice.
Is it possible to send a PM out to like 10 people at once?
I have an idea. So we still want the Arena two to have a winner, right? So lets just do a drawing, or maybe a dice role. There are 6 left, I believe, and 6 numbers on a die.

There should be at least a couple other people who will see the notice by next Wednesday.
As a last resort, I guess we could leave the winner up to chance, but I'd rather just have those guys battle it out.

That's all right, but since you have three characters Lionlord, would you be willing to return the one you just claimed (Michael) so someone else could claim them?
I'm back on Arena 2 now that its going slightly again. Basically I'll respond when you do.
Oh and do you think we should make it manditory to write at least a line or two in RPing? Cause it's hard to reply to. -
And she walked up and said 'Hello'
I try to make my posts long but it's hard when no one else gives me much to work with. (Not saying that some don't, but some people only write like 3 wordsd sometimes)

We actually need ideas not only for this upcoming Arena, but for all those in the future. I'll definitely make sure I check out Incaceron. What do you think of the labyrinth concept, Stormanator?
AWJ - what do you think about the more than 3 words rule? Let's make it official and I personally will be the one to enforce it because it irks me when I give a five paragraph long reply and they reply with 3 words.
Just say if you have writers block though and thats different.

Alright, we've got it done - any other issues we should look into before we start Arena 4? AWJ anything you can think of?

Sign-up for Arena 4 will begin within the next week, likely opening up at noon this Saturday, October 1st.
The usual pre-Arena rooms will open up shortly after that.
The official commencement of Arena 4 will occur as soon as all characters are taken.

Anyone have any ideas about:
- What this Arena should look like
- What monsters will inhabit it
- Any particular special features the map will have
- Would it be a good idea to change up the format (ie. not just kill Tributes randomly, maybe have some sort of teams right off the bat and a type of goal?)
All ideas are welcome!
