Lucy, I love love love the Sevenwaters series! Such good books! Daughter of the Forest and Son of the Shadows are probably my favorites, but I love them all.

Simon Clark did a sequel a few years ago which was, I'm glad to say, very good. The Night of the Triffids. Very much in the spirit of the original book.

I loved both book and movie of Memoirs of a Geisha. and ofcourse TKAM a must read for all!

A word before..."
Series of unfortunate events is an amazing series of books! I loved them growing up i remember getting my parents to buy me the whole series cause i was totally in love with them! :D

on ASOIAF? well, it is not for everyone, also cos it is pretty tough read, very thorough and detailed... the characterization goes very deep, sometimes too deep for ppl's liking... you follow near every step of the chars... but I like all those books even AFFC and ADWD that are slower in pace
