Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World discussion

The idea of the encyclopedia wand was one of my favorite ideas from the book. The idea of writing any word/phrase/tome as a decimal and finding that number on a 0 to 1 numberline is quite amazing. A website stated that infinity isn't a matter of size but a matter of precision.

I'd forgotten than until reading your comment, Chris - but I agree, that is a fascinating concept, and reveals the breadth of Murakami's understanding of a myriad of spheres of human knowledge. He's got a lot more strings to his bow than his (admirable) knowledge of music!
