Have just been reading about new flooding expected this weekend. Stay safe!

Kathy Tracey (kathytracey) | 1 comments Best wishes for you and your families safety. While I hope to engage in a dialogue with you both during this opportunity - certainly your safety and your home take a much greater priority.

Jean Christofferson (jchristofferson) | 1 comments Charles Todd - Your last couple novels have concentrated on the Bess Crawford character. Will Ian Rutledge be coming back soon?

message 6: by Joanna (new)

Joanna (solucha) I really enjoy your books. What is the inspiration for Hamish?

message 7: by Jan C (new)

Jan C (woeisme) | 4 comments Hope all is okay there.

I recently read the short story/kindle single "The Kidnapping". But I missed Hamish. Is a short story (or maybe just this particular short story) too confining to introduce someone as complicated as Hamish?

Or (dread of dreads) is Rutledge cured and he doesn't need Hamish anymore? That's a terrible thing to wish - but is there a conception that one day Rutledge would lose Hamish; i.e. because his PTSD would be cured or at least be under sufficient control?

That's an interesting question, Jan. I have thought from the beginning that Hamish would eventually go, and Rutledge would be free from his past. But, this may be just the way I've thought it might go.

Lisa Lambert Nicholson (starrlife) | 2 comments Sorry I am late too . We in Vt are in the midst of horrific flood damages. As a psychiatric SW I especially love the PTSD perspective for Ian Rutledge. How did you come to explore that dimension, get interested in that issue?
