Hi guys - lets start voting for October. 3 books - your first vote will get 3 points, second 2 and third 1. Title & author (thanks Hols). Feel free to shamelessly pimp your choices ;)
p.s. the raw shark texts came third last month so it'll automatically go through to the poll - no need to vote for it

Thanks Becky!

Becky McWilliams Guinness (billiesue) No problem! I finished the magic toyshop in two days. I'm spending far too much time engrossed in books at the moment with nothing else to do! Those are three of the books on my list at the moment :)

1) When God Was A Rabbit ... by Sarah Winman. I have this book unread and waiting for me already, so has to have my first nomination.

2) The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern ... excited this has had a mention as it's one I've been reading the reviews to recently and on my Amazon wishlist!

3) Florence And Giles by John Harding ... I like a Victorian spooky tale.

Hollie Just wondering if last months 3rd most popular will automatically be included or are we just starting from scratch?

I will vote for
1) Water for Elephants - because it's been on the voting list twice but never won.
2) The Raw Shark texts - because it was 3rd last time and even though I've already read it, I think everyone else should read it too ;)
3) The House of Spirits by Isabel Allende - because I got it for 50p last week and am going to read it anyway!

I wasn't going to since we had the top 2 as reads last month but since the raw shark texts has been mentioned quite a bit and it has been voted for already then I think it's fair to put it in the poll. I'll edit my original post and Jo can vote for another book (decisions, decisions;)

I've only just ordered American Gods so I may not be ready to read Octobers book by then anyway.

I think we're pretty much just keeping discussions open on all the books anyway & American Gods is a pretty hefty book if you have other reads on the go.

My other book on the go is a dip in and out of one, so as long as I get cracking with American Gods should be fine.
As Raw Shark texts is now added anyway, my 3rd vote goes to Ness' choice of Florence and giles because I like a bit of gothic Victoriana

1)Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children - looks like an unusual format
2)The Long Song - the kindle sample hooked me
3)The Night Circus - hadn't heard of it before but want to read it now

It'd be nice to read something spooky for the month of Halloween, so I'm going to nominate:

1. Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children
2. The Woman in Black
3. Frankenstein

message 15: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie Robinson (ladystephina) | 17 comments 1. How to be a woman by Caitlin Moran - I read this recently and loved it, and it's a very quick and easy read.
2. A Game of Thrones by George R R Martin - it's on my list of books to read, I feel the need for some good fantasy right now! Not seen the series because I always have to read the book before I see the film/tv show!
3. The turn of the Screw by Henry James - a classic choice for Halloween!

Oh I like the idea of a Halloween book, something a bit ghosty and spooky :)

message 17: by Kathabelle (last edited Sep 20, 2011 02:28PM) (new)

Kathabelle | 18 comments I'd be up for a creepy, spooky book for Halloween, too!

Maybe a collection by Edgar Allen Poe?

I'd also like to suggest Heart Shaped Box by Joe Hill (Stephen King's son)

Hi Kath, if you could name 3 books in descending order then it makes it easier to include in the poll - thanks for taking part!

1. Heart Shaped Box by Joe Hill
2. The Collected Works of Edgar Allan Poe
