I will use this thread to keep track of book sthat have a good amount of action/adventure content. Some of these books aren't strictly A/A, but they just have good action scenes.

2011

1. Area 7 by Matthew Reilly 5/1 (5 stars)
2. Killing Floor by Lee Child 8/7 (4 stars)
3. The Lost World by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle 9/12 (4 stars)

Lady D, have you ever read any of Jennifer Blake's books? My mother loves them. I think she really likes this one, Challenge to Honor

She called them "Romantic Suspense" this one would be more "Historical Romantic Suspense" I think. I'm just currious what "romantic suspsense" means.

I grew up reading Jennifer Blake's books. They are really good. To me, romantic suspense is a story in which there is a strong romance element teamed with a story with lots of danger, thrills, and jeopardy.

message 11: by Kristin (new)

Kristin Lundgren (the_house_ai) | 3 comments Well, I'm new, so please bear with me. I labelled them all thrillers, so I don't now how to track that here as action/adventure, or even how to list them, other than by hand? I joined GR a few years ago, but didn't do much with it, until this summer a good friend suggested I get back into it. I have been trying to back track, at least for this year and into last, but it's hard. So far I have over 300 books, but a long way to go. Most of them are thrillers. My other addiction is YA-Fantasy (blush). And SF. I've read all of Rollins, Reilly, Preston/Childs, Morrison, etc. and have all of Golemans' stuff, but have only read a couple. Right now I'm reading a computer thriller, Daemon by Daniel Suarez (how would I make that title a link, like the others do?). I can't wait until I figure this out. Thrillers are my therapy - they go so fast, my mind doesn't have time to dwell in darker places ;-) If anyone has suggestions as to how to figure out this whole group thing, and how to cut and paste my books into discussions, please feel free to message me privately so as not to bore the group.

Hi Kristin. To start a reading thread for yourself, click on 'new' above the discussion topics list and call it whatever you want. You should be able to add it to this folder using the drop down menu. To add books, click on 'add book/author' above the blank comment box and it will pull up a box where you can type in the name of the book. If you want to add the title. If you want to add an icon, click 'cover.'

I love YA fantasy myself, so no need to blush. I hope that helps.

If you would like me to start you a thread, let me know.

5.The Cry of the Icemark by Stuart Hill 11/2 (although this is YA fantasy, it has a lot of action with very well-written battle scenes). (5 stars. Loved it!)

6.Chasing Darkness by Robert Crais 12/2 (this one is probably more of a mystery, but I'm also counting it as A/A) (4 stars)

2012
7.Sandstorm by James Rollins 1/7 (This was really good!) (4.5 stars)

8.Whiskey Sour by JA Konrath 1/11 (4 stars) More mystery/suspense than anything, but I'm counting it anyway.

I agree LadyD...but I didn't want to be the one to bring it up this time. :)

C.S. Splitter | 234 comments I can't say that I am going to get to read Whiskey Sour anytime soon, but my MIL did and loved it. She is a discriminating reader too, so I trust her opinion.

Konrath is also a hero to many authors out there. Good guy, great sense of humor.

CS, I did like Jack at lot and I like suspense. I liked it enough to keep going with the series. I can totally see how it wouldn't be for everyone.

It's got enough action to feel comfortable for me to count it on this group. I like books that don't fall into one genre anyway.

11. Element Zero by James Knapp 2/23 (2.5 stars) This book was too dark and dreary for me. Some disturbing elements that ruined the book. It's definitely got a lot of action and an interesting twist on the zombie theme, so I can see why some readers would love it.
