Is this group interested in mysteries in which each mystery is set in a different country with a large focus on helping the reader to feel he/she is travelling to that country? I myself love to travel through reading....but I have to say I particularly love a good mystery which also takes me travelling.
Sure. I love traveling. Maybe this will help me enjoy mysteries more

I have just published my first historical fiction book, When the Lion Roars, about a group of teenagers from a backwoods country setting embarking on a secret mission to a clandestine military base and traveling thousands of years back in time, where they have a great adventure and meet a host of individuals from centurions, shepherds and apostles to gladiators, villains, and a few other special characters! Hope that you may find this interesting! It is geared towards young adults, but it's also my hope that anyone can read it and enjoy being pulled into an ancient world of far away places full of adventure, color, humor and delectable ethnic foods...and hopefully learn some new things as well!(Like I said, that's my hope!)
I am currently working on the sequel, and am also available to review other authors' works ... feel free to contact me on my author page here on goodreads!
All the best!
(Hope I put this posting in the right spot!)

I'm T.L. Jones. I am an author of "Peter and the Band of Pirates," which the Kindle Edition has just been published. I too love to "travel through reading" and my character Peter loves to read for just that reason, to "travel to the far reaches of world." In the story Peter and readers travel to and sail throughout the West Indies and are introduced to the Arawak/Tiano Indians. "Peter and the Band of Pirates" is a Peter Pan origin story, before Neverland, before magic, when he is just an ordinary boy who loves to explore and discover the world around him. There is a hint of magic, here and there, but the story is focused on a quest that involves a treasure hunt. My most recent reading is the Harry Potter series, which is great reading. I look forward to reading recommendations from the group. I did read recently an excerpt from "The Shell Collector" and want to read that book as it takes readers to many different world locations.

I'm Amira; academic dean by day, writer by night :) So, my Dad is a retired diplomat which offered me the most amazing childhood, as far as travelling is concerned.
I was born in N'Djamena, Chad and grew up between Japan, Norway, New York, Belgium and Egypt. In my experience, traveling really does bridge the gap between minds and hearts.
On the author end, I've flirted with a few new takes on memoirs and poetry. However, as far as this group is concerned, I really hope you guys would consider reading "The Ankhs: Red Marks the Child" when it comes to selections from Africa and the Middle East.
It's set in Ancient Egypt.... so I'll be taking you on a journey between time and space.... hahahahah! But the treasure of it is this: I, myself, am Egyptian. And after years of traveling the world with my father, I came back home to re-acquaint myself with a country I didn't know or understand.
It took me a while; a few years, in fact! But, I only really understood Egypt when I started looking beyond the grit and grime of it. I mingled with the general mass public which were very different in comparison with the foreign dignitaries I grew up with, as a child. They were the salt of the Earth.... and I fell in love.
Today, I live, work, and write in Cairo, Egypt. This novella is tribute to the wondrous ancient past that flows passionately through my veins. I hope that as you read, you'll be able to feel the cool Nile, taste the hot desert and revel in the glare of the great Sun, itself!

Thanks for posting this. I'm an author also, and I can't help but be annoyed when others write pseudo-comments that are nothing more than veiled sales pitches. Goddess save us! Who do they think they're kidding? I make sure to NEVER look up their books.

Excited to announce that my new novel, “Unsuitable Boys!” based in Sri Lanka, is now available on Amazon.
The novel commences as a delightful romantic comedy of errors where parents choose the wrong boys for their daughters and where the concept of arranged marriages in Sri Lanka is explored. Further, as a foil to these innocent young loves, there is the sordid affair of the uncle.
Nevertheless, the story takes a tragic turn when one parent, a powerful political figure, decides to terminate his daughter’s love affair by terminating the life of her lover!
The novel takes place in that sad period in Sri Lanka’s history where a “psychosis of fear” pervaded the country and disappearances, killings and abduction by “white vans” were the order of the day. https://www.amazon.com/author/terrenc...

My book titled America Deconstructed is a short story collection about immigrants who have moved from around the world to America. We have stories by people who moved from Africa, India, Afghanistan, Europe, and Asia. We explore the embarrassments and humor from cultural differences and along the way the book covers several topics such as Taliban, love, war, romance, children, marriage and everything in between. These are true stories of the people interviewed for the book.
If interested please inbox me, and I can send you the pre-order link.
Hope to hear from you soon.

“Seated on a panel with her fellow writers, Maltese-Serbian novelist Nataša Pantović has been known to use slam poetry to perform her poetic body of work.
Like her prose, the improvised words, tribal music, percussionist sounds, lengthy ‘aum’ chanting, are neither too preposterous nor too earnest but endlessly curious. A bridge builder between East and West, following ancient archaeological findings, she often dives into historic settings more than 2,000 years back in time.
In her novel, Ama: Playing the Glass Bead Game with Pythagoras, the 52-year-old author makes a bold swerve into less-travelled territory. She chooses for her protagonists Ama, an African priestess, living in China’s Macao in the 17th century; Ruben, a Portuguese Jesuit priest; and Fr Benedict, an Orthodox Christian.”
I could not believe my eyes! 2 days ago, a news agency from Macau (where my novel #Ama is set) have seen the Sunday Time's #Article #review "A beautiful mind", and has issued another article, book review in #Portuguese... https://pontofinalmacau.wordpress.com... Wow! Totally impressed!

My name is Nikos Dimitriou and recently I published an eBook about what I am actually doing the last 5 years. Typically, I am travelling non-stop in a vehicle but basically I am traveliving.
So, the book is about traveliving, a term which I coined after so long time in the roads of Europe, Africa and America that literally involves long-time, slow travel as well as surviving on the road.
For the first time, a book of this kind summarizes all the aspects of how to shape your dream of travelling around the world, find the courage to quit everything, get meticulously prepared for such an adventure as well as survive on the road emotionally & financially. Additionally, my only objective in writing this book is to make my small contribution to the long-standing travellers community.
I you are interested, please send me a pm, so I can forward to you all related info.
Hope to hear from you soon ;-)

Keep up the good work.

Hi Ruth,
So glad to see someone mention Portugal! Indeed, my first nonfiction thriller, INTO THE LION'S MOUTH, was set largely in Portugal as Lisbon (Madrid, too) was the key hub of espionage during WWII. It's a fabulous country and my book was purchased by the Portuguese publisher, Editora 20/20 (the Portuguese edition is shown here on Goodreads).
They were SO nice to work with, and had me in for four days of media events. It was an instant bestseller there, and Editora has already purchase Portugal rights for my next book, CODE NAME: LISE.
I can't wait to return to that beautiful country and see even more!

Hello everyone! I write in a strange genre, nonfiction thrillers, but the exciting part is that because the sub-genre is WWII espionage, my stories take place all over the world: Lisbon, London, Paris, New York, Rio de Janiero, Berlin, Amsterdam, Cannes, Marseille, Cherbourg, Gibraltar, Madrid .... even the French and Italian Alps!
Look forward to traveling with you!
Cheers,
Larry Loftis

I am seeking reviews of my raucous expat memoir The Mexico Diaries: A Sustainable Adventure, rated 4.48 on Goodreads, and 4.7 on Amazon/kindle, with more than 70 total ratings!
The Mexico Diaries is about my wife and I trading in our upscale New England existence to pursue a life a hippie homesteading in rural Mexico. In addition to the scores of outrageous animal episodes, entertaining tales of life at the nexus of Americano and Mexicano culture, and a colorful cast of outlandish characters, The Mexico Diaries is, first and foremost, a story about re-inventing life, and rolling with the consequences.
Tony Cohan, Author of the NTY’s Best Seller ‘On Mexican Time’, and winner of the Literary Guild Award calls it “As lively and engaging an account of reimagining life as you’ll encounter, replete with goat wrangling, narcos, scorpions, and a rollicking cast of characters…”
Surviving Mexico .com/Book Reviews wrote: “A whirlwind Mexican journey to sustainability and beyond. A read in a million and one you won’t want to miss!”
Underratedreads.com says: There are a few books I’ve read that have had this effect on me. I look forward to my reading time, usually nap time or bedtime, because the book is there waiting for me. And, as I near the end of the book, I begin to feel sad because I know I will soon be saying good-bye to it.
This book will appeal to anyone hankering for an over-the-top, real life adventure! I hope that you'll sign on for this memorable ride!

My name's Vinnie Apicella. I'm happy to be part of this group and appreciate the opportunities available to us here on Goodreads.
I'm a teacher, writer, and entrepreneur living in Beijing for the past several years. I'm pleased to share, I've recently become an official author self-publishing my first book, Escape from America: An Introspective Journey from America into China...

Would love to connect with others, and am happy to accept review requests from anyone interested. In spite of the title, you don't need to be Chinese, American, or have interest in either country to gain something of value.
My “story within a story” is one that I believe can encourage you, whatever your background, and no matter where you are in life, to pursue your passions and keep pushing forward, even when the deck seems stacked against you.
Cheers guys, I look forward to interacting here in our group!

I am A.Joaeph Keryo Canadian economic writer,I have published my book at the end of April 2020. I spend almost 10 years working on the book until today's date. I am glad to be here my book title: The Fourth Way: A Comprehensive Humanitarian Economic System to
Save the World.
Thanks All

Greetings. I am excited to share my book on the magic of Rome; though it is coming out in November, it is already available for review by bloggers and reviewers. Let me know if interested!

The main thing I have to say about my authorship is that I've taken down the first volume of the literary historical mystery trilogy--it contains multiple timelines/narratives--I self-published in 2014 on Amazon while I finish the substantial edits I've made to it, which I'm hoping to get converted, designed and back online (along with my website, which is pathetically obsolete) within the next six to twelve months. (The other two volumes are completed and largely edited, but unpublished.) In the meantime I'm looking forward to hearing what people here are reading. Sadly, I've never traveled anywhere farther/more foreign than Hawaii (though I lived there over two years).
Literary and experimental fiction, philosophy, poetry, and history/nonfiction are my biggest passions. I have odd, decidedly non-mainstream tastes. The greatest novel I've ever read (now three times) is Nightwood by Djuna Barnes; my favorite philosophical work is Anti-Oedipus/Thousand Plateaus by Gilles Deleuze/Felix Guattari, and my favorite historical novel (which I've posted a review on here at Goodreads), is Marguerite Yourcenar's Memoirs of Hadrian. Perhaps that gives a flavor of how my own tastes run. I am presently reading, along with a couple other things, the second volume of Will Durant's Story of Civilization, and have ambitions of reading the entire series.
In my youth I read voraciously and wrote little; now, with long hours at my job, our young children, and my seemingly constant writing and editing when neither of those other activities are happening, I seem to have by comparison far less time for reading than I’d rather. (Sad emoji.)
Thank you for accepting me into your lovely community! I look forward to many inspiring connections and cross-pollinations of interests!
Please let me know if there is anything missing or that I need to provide beyond what I've stated here.

Hatha Yoga for a Quiet Painless Old Age

A healthy and prosperous life ahead!

Hi there, I am a new South African author who has written a rather interesting, emotional stirring and informative biography about a religious Sister who stayed in 10 different countries.
About the book:-
About the Book (long version)
The Adventurous Nun – Stories my family told me is a comprehensive biography of Sister Mildred Lungile Madlala, a Franciscan Missionary of Mary (FMM), born on Mistake Farm, KwaZulu-Natal south coast, South Africa. As a Sister, a nun, a Franciscan Missionary of Mary, she dedicated her whole life to God until the end. She wanted to tell her story to inspire, teach and motivate others. This book is written for anyone in the world, including people who do not belong to the Roman Catholic Church.
As a FMM, Sister Mildred worked and met people in many different countries including South Africa, Congo, Kenya, Mauritius, France, Upper Volta (Burkina Faso), Italy, Switzerland, England and Madagascar. She was a teacher by profession, and an interpreter as she was fluent in English, French and Swahili, and could converse in Italian, with isiZulu being her mother tongue. This biography is thus available in French, Swahili, and, importantly, in isiZulu, because she believed in communicating to people in their mother tongue.
Sister Mildred attended school at St Francis College Mariannhill with the late liberation struggle icon Steve Biko. In later life she wholeheartedly followed her calling as a nun which she first felt when she was just eight years old. Over the years she met and engaged with Pope John Paul II and Cardinal Otunga, and slept in the home of Mary of the Passion. Her adventurous journey with Jesus was not without danger, though; she was followed by a lion in Kenya, and survived the civil war in Zaire before finally succumbing to Covid-19 in Madagascar.
Although she didn’t spend much time with them, Sister Mildred’s love for her blood relatives never diminished. Throughout the book tales are woven of family interactions, to preserve the history of this family which produced such an extraordinary woman.
Practically, the book explains what a nun is as well as the work that nuns are involved in. When Sister Mildred was in Rome, she wrote about her life in the form of poems which are published here. In the book, she also shares lessons that she learnt throughout her journey.
It’s a stirring story of a woman’s passion for Jesus, but most of all for her passion to serve His people to the very best of her ability. Sister Mildred did this with alacrity until the very end.
