talk about obsessive love! puppy love is one thing...wanting to die at 16 because the young man you loved left you/died...I could see this if it was a long lived love...I do not understand making someone else the absolute center of your life. It is an obligation most men do not want and not something I think is healthy emotionally.

I agree. I just put this up because I thought people would actually talk about. Must not be as great as it sounds, yeah?

teenage girls loved it. personally, I thought the heroine was pathetic.

even though I am in my sixties, I read this series. It had more to do with obsession than it did with mature love. What you want at 17 is so very different than what you want at 30 in most cases. On the other hand, my sister married the only man she ever dated right out of high school and just celebrated her 43rd wedding anniversary. But these days she is the exception, not the rule. It is scientific fact that your brain does not mature until your early twenties. Wait until at least that long before making an adult decision.
